Emotional Melt Down or Break Through?

for 19 år siden 0 1521 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Wheezyone, Stay strong, you are doing an amazing job staying smoke free. If you have not already figured out, some days will be better than others. It's the bad days that we need to be prepared for. If you have not already, please come up with a list of coping mechanisms. This list can be anything, from taking a long walk to a warm soothing bath. You may also want to try to incorporate some relaxation techniques in this list. When you feel frustrated, and urge comes along or you are just having a bad day, make good use of this list of coping mechanisms. It will help you along the way. Last night was horrible. I had an emotional break-down I guess! I was a complete basket case and Sybil. In the end I just ended up sobbing and hating myself and hating cigarettes. After my sobbing and wretched guilt and anguish - I felt better. I hated the constant thought of wanting to smoke/not wanting to smoke. I thought I would lose my mind. I started my period. Yep - first time without nicotine I've had my period. The cramps were so strong and my mind kept telling me that a cigarette would ease the pain. I didn't give in - not because I'm strong - but I think because I was praying the whole time. God - I've never felt so out of control in my whole life. I begged my daughter to not ever smoke. She is seven (7) - she was really worried. I explained to her that I was okay - but I told her - this is what cigarettes will do honey. Please promise me you will never smoke and mommy is going to hang on and not smoke and all of this will pass! God - I hope she understands on some level. I'd rather her see me go through this now than see me dying a few years from now. Know what I mean? Please tell me it gets easiar! I hope I don't have too many more melt downs. I guess looking back - it was such a release to cry and grieve and get all that stuff out. Today has been alot better! Thanks all for your support! Goooooo Wheezy! Stay strong, you just hit a big bump in the road but you got thru it and you can get thru more if they happen. I agree with Polly about feelin like she hated everyone, i'v had some of those days too and the funny thing was is i would be fine at work but i turned into a rabid animal when i got home but i know it was cause i was dealing with a change in my routine when i got home. Before i would come home & sit on the couch and light up so now i couldn't just come in & sit on the couch because that would trigger me. This week i started a new routine when i get home from work and i noticed my mood has been better so far so i will stick with it! Don't forget to reward yourself-you deserve it, especially after your meltdown! Keep us updated and don't give up!! Wheezy and Polly You both just hang in there. I promise you this will pass. I know it's tough, but you are doing this. This is an addiction and you have to remember that. Your body is going through withdrawal. You will make it. Try not to kick too many things though Polly. I found myself cleaning everything in sight when I first quit. I was ready to go outside and wax the streets, lol. keep the quit vicki just 1 puff away from 2 packs a day My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 86 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,463 Amount Saved: $602 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 18 Mins: 43 Seconds: 21

you need to find ways to distract your thinking when the cravings come on like this. Just sitting and letting them take over is miserable....don't allow that....get up and do something to get your mind headed in another direction. and it WILL get easier.....and you can hurry that process by making plans of how to handle cravings. Keep reading and keep posting.....this is exactly what this site is for. Somewhere for you to come when things get tough things will get better....I promise.....(((hugs))) katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1468 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 58,753 Amount Saved: $8074 Life Gained: Days: 191 Hrs: 14 Mins: 8 Seconds: 52
