Dreams....

Yesterday, I too had a dream about smoking. For some reason I was in my old HS science club room, where some of my classmates, whom I'm sure never smoked, offered me one. I took it and lit it, but about 1/3 through the cigarette, I somehow came to me senses, broke the cigarette in half and threw it away. I remember when I woke up, I thought: "Damn! One week for nothing...", and I was feeling ashamed and guilty. But then I finally woke up completely and it all just felt kind of silly, well more of a relief I guess. Well the matter of fact is; it didn't happen in real life, so I don't worry about it too much. However, it is true that dreams are often images of our inner-most desires, and it would be natural for someone who has just quit, to desire a cigarette. I would ignore those dreams. Those desires are only products of your brain and body because they have gotten used to the nicotine and have accepted it. We don't need nicotine to stay alive, only, that's what our body thinks. It's just a matter of time before the body gets used to not contain levels of nicotine. OK, sorry I might have gone a bit off topic here ;) Stay cool, buddy! BJ, I am close to your quit and occasionally I will have a dream of smoking and I am always heartbroken that I smoked, and was so happy to realize that it was a dream. I used the patch when I quit now you talk about dreams I had them. So I had to remove them at night. Wish I could help but I don't know what to tell you. Congratulations on your quit, are you packed and ready to go to the beach?? Save a spot for me..... SUNSHINE

Ok i know i've been stressed out latley but boy i have been having some dreams about smoking! In some dreams i resist the urge and in others i just can't. In reality i've done really great and have not slipped once but i do say to myself alot "I cannot believe i haven't smoked a cigarrette"! If anything i proved to myself that i am a lot stronger that i thought. I wish i could make these dreams go away though. The stange part is i just started having these dreams and i'm 3 months into my quit. Anyone else having these kind of dreams? Member of the Jan. Hey Sunshine! I didn't use the patch, i went cold turkey so i can't blame wild dreams on the patch! I am ready for the beach any day! I only live less than 3 miles from it!! I am still so glad that i quit, it's nice to be free of that ball & chain!! Bj, Everyone's quit will be different. Your symptoms are here and you need to deal with them. Try relaxation techniques to help you sleep better. A warm bath and good book or even some light stretching should help alleviate the stress. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
