Why Tonight?

The night was Rough. I tried guided meditation on and off, but the junkie thinking kept getting in the way. It was a struggle not to get dressed. "Just get the car out of the garage and drive around the corner to the 7-11," is what the addict kept telling me, but I held off. I got about 2.5 hours of sleep. I'm tired, but the cravings have passed. Hopefully, I'll have the pleasure of a nap later on today. If not, I'd much rather be tired than smoking, so all is well. So, I'm 110 days into my quit. I've been living on the board since I've found out about it... All in the name of nicotine sobriety... And out of nowhere, the craving hits at 10:30, just before bedtime, and I'm crawling the walls. I've tried meditating, I've had a cup of herbal tea, I've done my count to 8 countless times, and here I sit in the Den, knowing that sleep is ever so far away. Any ideas on how to get over this hump and get to slumberland? Shaken but not out of the game yet, Jackey My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/22/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 111 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,222 Amount Saved: $463.98 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 2 Mins: 23 Seconds: 59

Thanks Shevie, Yeah, I've tried bed twice... I just toss and turn and upset the dogs  I'm watching a couple old episodes of "Are You Being Served" and eating some raw baby carrots... Just waiting... I've also taken a couple Benedryl, looking for that little medication boost. Congrats and kudos for geting through the night, Jackey. Glad the cravings have subsided. Last night I was going to suggest a sledgehammer or 2x4 upside the head to get some rest :8o:, but I was concerned you might take me serious, lol. I remember those days. Most of us go through a rough period between 80 - 120 days. Maybe this is yours. It generally only lasts a few days, then that's pretty much it; usually it's pretty smooth sailing after that. Sort of like Ol' Nic's last hurrah (or death spasm). Take care. Nap if you can. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 324 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,491 Amount Saved: $1231.2 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 12 Mins: 15 Seconds: 0

Hi, Jackey. Congratulations on 110 days. That is a grand accomplishment. :) Something triggered it, Jackey, and you'll probably never know what it was. All you can do is deal. Go back to hell week coping methods if you have to. Breathe deep, drink ice water, suck on an ice cube. Have you tried going to bed? Since I never smoked in bed, that was my only true refuge in the early weeks. No matter how bad it was, going to bed killed it. It's temporary, Jackey. Hang in there. jackey, How did your night go? This will pass, but you can't sit and wait :) Try relaxation techniques before bed and this may relax you and give you a better sleep. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
