Sleep problems are common for people with depression. Around 80% of people with depression have trouble sleeping. Try to get into a regular sleep routine. Exercise during the day but not two hours before bed. Also avoid eating heavy meals and drinking alcohol before bed. Try to stay away from caffeine and drink herbal teas instead. Practise relaxation techniques.
Also, if you worry before bed write down your worries and tell yourself that you will deal with them in the morning. Remind yourself that worrying about them at night will not make the situation any better.
Stay strong things will get better. Post often, we are here for you.
I have had depression for about 3 years now. It happens randomly and it just comes and goes without warning. It has not really interfered with my personal or social life as I tended to keep it hidden. However it has been occurring more recent and lasting longer. I always seem to have a pessimistic view and I have never really felt happy in a long while. I have lost many interests and now I just feel like doing nothing. I always seem to feel useless and unwanted even though I know I am not I hope...
Sleep has sometimes been an issue with me as I have been unable to sleep. I have recently been to a doctor who has given me anti-depressants which I will start using shortly and has suggested to me to go into therapy which I plan to.
Right now I am currently depressed and it has become more difficult for me in life to keep it hidden as I now can barely concentrate and so many things are rushing in and out of my head.
