bubbaj,

Glad to hear you will be seeing your doctor. Although the decision is up to you, it is strongly encouraged that you are honest with your doctor about your medication and how you are feeling. They know your medical history and also may have a good understanding of your experiences. You may also want to outline your hesitations with the medications to give him or her a better understanding of your goals for your own health.

Perhaps other members may be able to offer you further suggestions. Members, what natural remedies have you tried? What has your experience been? Please share your ideas!

Hello,

Thanks for the post. Yes, I'm seeing my docotr in a few weeks. I don't know what to tell him. I'm sure he is going to ask if I'm on any  medication and how I'm feeling. If I tell him no but continue to feel bad I may regret it right? If I tell him OK lets get back on the medication it kind of destroys all that I've been working for. Plus there are some other personal reasons I don't want to be back on medication. I'm open to suggestions from other members who have tried "natural" things to help depression. Sometimes I take 5HTP. I also know about St. John's Wort and SAME. The strange thing is that  the medications I took for 4 years never really had the effect I wanted. Maybe I just needed to take them and use this CBT forum  (Although I did undergo a fair amount of "talk" thearpy but with just one therapist.

Well that's enough for now. I'll post again later if some other things come to mind.

Thanks!

Hello,
I had a bad period of depression (couldn't sleep, eat, or function) back in abtou 2005. Was taking anti depressants for about 4 years and still feel like I haven't recovered fully.  Not totally happy with the results. I never felt "happy". I have a very stressful job and I'm sure a lot my anxiety/depression is a result of that. However, I've always struggled with anxiety and depression my whole life it seems.

I'm trying out the CBT info taught here. I've been off meds for a couple of months and seem to be doing OK although at times I feel like getting back on them. Currently I take 88mcg Snythroid. I'm not excatly happy with how I'm feeling on the thryoid meds and wonder if I need to change something up there or if it is just my anxiety /depression.

Thanks
