Strange, isn't it? I don't find this site lonely, and it's so much easier for me to write here than in a journal. I read a lot of the posts, though I'll only reply if I feel that I have something helpful to add or if something strikes a chord. I guess I'm a little unsure how much of a response is appropriate -- there isn't a great deal of participation in the discussions and I feel self-conscious when too many of the posts have my name on them.
I like the anonymity, but the shortage of feedback makes me uncomfortable. Wow -- not much of a low-self-esteem people-pleaser, am I? :)
I totally agree with you Banjogal.
I found this site after looking into online therapy because I absolutely HATE the idea of group therapy or even one-on-one with someone that I dont know. I find it easier to talk about my problems and what goes on and what goes wrong with people that cant see me which is why I found and have started using this site.
up to us innit? I live on the other side of the world and i already have more hope after 24 hrs. few responses, yes, but powerful, and surely its easier than sitting in group therapy. i think there's something wonderful about baring the truth with no-one close by to judge. strange but true. who cares what they make of it? courage people...
Sadown,
Yes, we are growing each & everyday so please feel free to post. Many of our members do lurk so even if you don't get many replies, many are benefitting from your shared experience.
Oldblue,
Welcome to the group! The Depression Center is a program that is offered free of charge to the public. We do not profit nor advertise this site in any form. We do use data we collect from this site in research papers which are then presented to the medical community. Through our research we hope to further our and others understanding of depression and subsequently refine the manner in which individuals with depression should be cared for on a larger scale.
Hope that answers your question :) If you'd like to learn more about the company responsible for this site and it's partners, we encourage you to visit the corporate site: www.v-cc.com

it seems that way. i'm about to begin my second session so i haven't been here long enough to know what really goes on or suss out what kind of "community" exists. while it seems positive and constructive it basically seems like we're on a site run by a market research company that collects our mood data to sell to pharmaceutical companies.
