I was taking Xanax for about 2 months and it did nothing for me. For the first couple of weeks it felt like I was in a cloud floating. I also sleep way more, about 6 hours during the day and 10-12 hours at night. After about 2 weeks those syptoms went away. I found that with Xanax and any other drug that I have taken the doctor always says give it time, give it time. I knew it wasn't working but he wouldn't allow me to go off the drug. I also try and do research about the drugs.
I had a Rx for xanax once and while it helped relieve anxiety I didn't like the side-effects. It made me see double. I couldn't focus on anything...read, watch TV, use the computer, nada.

Hi Visionary,
I had taken Xanax before switching to Klonopin. I found it very helpful in keeping the "ghosts" away, but after a few tests, it was wreaking havoc with my liver. I surely didn't want back-fire, so they switched me.
BTW....my dose was .5 as needed, not to exceed four per day (24 hours).

I am on alprozalam which is the ingredient in Xanax. It has helped my anxiety. I haven't noticed any side effects but am on several medications so it would be hard to know which one was causing them if I did.
I am on a fairly low dosage. I understand it can be habit-forming at high dosages.
