The generic form of medication contains the same primary drug/properties as the brand names. For example, taking Tylenol Extra Strength (500mg tablet) would be the same as taking a generic brand of Acetominophen 500mg for fever/headache etc. However, Please do follow up with your doctor if you do have further concerns.

Very interesting. I have taken Celexa for a few years and started taking the generic medication 2 weeks ago. For the last week I have been extremely irritated, a condition I had before taking Celexa. I started to wonder if there was some connection to the change in medication and started surfing the web and found this site. I plan to call my doctor and ask.
I can assure you that there is no difference between Celexa (in my country Seropram) and other preps. with the same active substance called citalopram HBr. Thing you feel may by caused just by the situation. – You know you are taking something other and you thing of it, so you are more sensitive than as usual and you feel things you notice. But be sure that it will disappear in next few weeks. So listen to you Dr. and continue taking it.
Have a nice day.
I am curious to know if anyone has yet taken the new generic Celexa (Citalopram) that has come out within the last month? I got my 20mg refilled last night and instead of paying $70, I paid $8.00 for the generic. I have been on Celexa for close to 8 years now. I did notice a slight change in the way that I felt after I took it. It made me feel a little nervous inside and my hands felt tingly. My Dr. told me to take it for 2 weeks to see how I felt, but I'm curious to know if anyone else has tried it yet and what they've thought about it.
Thanks for any input you may have!
Best! :)
