I say stay on two weeks instead of one if you're having serious doubts.
one week isn't very long to give yourself to do a gradual withdrawal, which is what the patch is designed for. I think what you'd be doing is piling up your withdrawals, because although stepping down on the patch is nowhere NEAR as hard as quitting smoking, there is anxiety and some physical symptoms. It takes some time to get adjusted to each patch and while I don't think you should get all comfy and happy on 7 mg of nicotine for two months or anything, I think you'll be surprised how easy it is to let go of the patch after two weeks. After one, it may be more of a challenge, you may find yourself having panicky cravings....especially on a vacation, which will have lots of triggers. I was on the 7mg patch on a weekend away early in my quit and I almost chewed the drapes I wanted a cigarette so bad. It was the motel thing, I think. Anyway, you made the decision to use an NRT for a reason, go ahead and use it to succeed at your quit, I think. Using the patch for an extra week is so much better than smoking. But, of course, it's your decision to make. If you feel like you're ready to be nekkid, go for it and good for you! Don't let me discourage you. It's all about what you feel will help you not smoke, and if you know you won't smoke with or without the patch, then do it to it!
Oh and hoo-ray for the personal trainer! Good for your daughter!
