Dasiegrl... well, CONGRATULATIONS BIG TIME on getting through Hell week in one piece!
You and Bartman are freaking me out with your cache of cigarettes nearby - willpower coupled with preparation with compensators must work in different ways for us all since we're each one an individual...
From personal experience I know how wily both booze and opioids are when you let them go and struggle to live without them. But, will power comes in different sizes, I guess. I know I couldn't have kept a bottle of Lamb's Navy Rum in the house when I quit; nor a day's supply of diamorphine either!!

Great for you Daisegrl! I did the same thing when I quit over 10 months ago. I carried an unopened pack around with me in my front pocket for the first 3 months. I know 99% of everyone else will say that was crazy, but I was determined that I was the boss and I was in control of my own actions. I never believed in the "nicodemon." You control your own quit and it can only be as successful as you want it to be. Having a positive attitude is key...

Good going Dasie! 5 days is great.
But, If I may make a suggestion. Get rid of the smokes. Make it easier for yourself to stay smoke free and harder to smoke. Just put a little distance between yourself and the pack. ;)
I know I would have caved a few times if I had a pack in my car. Instead, when I had a weak moment, I knew that I would have to drive to the store to get some and by that time, the crave had passed.
Stay strong!
G :)

Hi Dasie,
You are doing great. Keep a positive attitude and before you know it you wont even think about smoking.
You can do anything you set your mind too and If you want to quit you will wheather they are available or not. If you want to smoke you will find a way to get them. Whatever works for you is okay by me.
I'm glad you have decided to quit and look forward to sharing your journey

Well I'm almost through the worst week. Yeah! I've had some bad times with my demon talkin to me. Seems like all I do is a trigger. Must of really been smokin my brains out. Do alot of deep breathing, that helps alot, and chew on alot of celery & carrots. I've got a pack of cigs in my glove box of my truck. So far Ihaven't opened them and don't plan on it. For now it's just a , I know I have them but choose not to smoke. My Mom had to quit cause she had a heart attack 2 years ago and has 1/2 carton in the cubboard so she knew she had cigs, she just wasn't gonna smoke them, that wasn't any longer an option. Kinda crazy but it's worked for her. Guess it's all about will power and getting self confidence in yourself. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I'm on the patch and they do help alot with cravings. It's just that junkie thinking you have to concure! Best of luck to everybody here. This is an awsome place!!!!!!!
