Withdrawl symptoms

Hi Karen61,
Are you coughing more now that you have quit smoking? If so, that could make your muscles tense up and hurt. Anxiety can also play a part in your discomfort. You no longer have the cigarette to fall back on to "make you feel better" when you smoked it, even tough it never really did. All it did was make your brain release hormones that made you feel good.
As for your drowsiness, it might take up to a month or longer, or if you are lucky, shorter than that, before you will get back to normal. It varies by each individual. Some people never get that when they quit.
When you feel that your heart is racing, try using a breathing technique. Slowly inhale through your nose, hold a few seconds and then slowly exhale through your mouth. Do this few times and you should feel calmer. Are your urges getting any easier to handle?
You are doing great on your quit journey. You made it through hell week and you are into heck week now.
Stay strong.

Hi Karen61,
Congratulations on quitting smoking.   All of your symptoms are normal after you quit smoking, nothing to be concerned with. Good to hear that you went to the doctor to be on the safe side. When in doubt, check it out! You are making a major change to your lifestyle by quitting smoking, and anxiety can play a big role in the outcome. Do you notice your heart racing at a particular time of day, or does it seem to be all of the time? The drowsiness and lightheaded will taper off in time once your body starts to adjust to the lack of the nicotine. "doctors checked my blood pressure and heart and oxygen all OK, but still feeling heart race" If you are still concerned about this, you may want to buy a blood pressure/heart rate monitor for home so you can keep tabs on it.
I wish you the best on your quit journey!
Stay strong.
