Vince,
It is perhaps the most devastating when the ones closest to us dont understand. Its the stigma, that Xanax or any other benzo gets from society, how many times you hear stories of people going to rehab for Lexapro or another anti-depressant? How many stories of selling illegally on the street Lexapro, etc.? None, so when it is prescribe for a true condition that is hard for people to comphrend, we get ostracized for it.
Luckily, my husband understood, as he did not see me "high", he simply saw me FUNCTIONING without panic or high anxiety. Now my mother on the other hand, preached incessantly about me taking Xanax by my doctor, it became so crucial in my therapy, that he finally called in my family, parents and siblings, and told them, they seem to take a pyschiatrist word as gold more than our own. But alas, I wasn't perstered anymore, and it did help that the doctor validated the prescription for my disorder.
