When I was first diagnosed back in the early '80's, I'd have said, "fat chance" of finding one. I went to see every Psychologist, social worker, GP that I could find who would listen but most of them had absolutely no idea how to help me. Today, things are much different. Panic disorder and agoraphobia are very common and doctors are much more aware of it now. I don't know where you are located, but I would say, take the anxiety test, print out your results, and then meet with a doctor. See what their opinion is on it and if they have had other patients who they have successfully treated. Personally, I think it is way bigger than this. I have a GP who I adore, and would help me at any time, but I also have a counsellor to help me with this program. A GP (here in Canada anyhow) doesn't have more than 15 minutes or so to spend with you. With my counsellor, I pay her privately so I can have an hour or more if I need it. I emailed her (the counsellor) the results of this test, and we are working on my exposure together. My GP is also helping with meds, and is there is ever I need him. The rest, unfortunately, is up to me. It's a long haul, and it won't be easy but I am sick and tired of limiting my life with this horrifying condition and I am not going to sit around and wait for it to go away anymore...I'm actively participating in my recovery. I don't think there is any other way.
I don't know if I have helped at all but...good luck...and stay connected with others who are going through the same thing as you are. We ABSOLUTELY KNOW what you are dealing with - we're right here with ya!
