Deb,
I wish "I" understood what I meant by the panic cycle more readily, but I do what I can.

I am glad you changed this too NOT cancer Vincenzia. That is more positive than my orginal post and less scary I think.

I am working the program and trying to grasp it especially the ten questions. I had a few good days and today I did have a panic attack but managed to work through it, I know its up and down and does not follow a pattern and that helps me.

I still have not called the doctor about my surgery. The GOOD news is that the pain is gone and my voice is stronger  and the inhaling wheezing is gone, I am hoping it shrunk or went away, due to voice rest and the predisone, I hope I am not in denial but the symptoms seem less and I am hoping it will shrink naturally without surgery, I have read that sometimes throat polyps or nodules do disapeer which I am hoping and praying for, I am trying too get stronger to get a second opinion very soon here.

Red I so admire you're strength and positive attitude, I am praying for you and reading your posts inspire me, even through I know you are worried you still are managing to function and go on and get through it, and I know its hard. I understand what you mean about the panic cycle Hugs. Thank you.

Vincenza,
I breathed a sigh of relief when I read this, since it reminded me of the Serenity prayer and the expression and the skill of knowing when to "choose your battles"

Red1, You continue to inspire all of us.  I read a really great post on the concept of surrendering that I thought I would share it with you here:
On Surrendering, Echkart Tolle in his book Power of Now talks about the power of surrender:

To some people, surrender may have negative connotations, implying defeat, giving up, failing to rise to the challenges of life, becoming lethargic, and so on. True surrender, however, is something entirely different. It does not mean to passively put up with whatever situation you find yourself in and to do nothing about it. Nor does it mean to cease making plans or initiating positive action.
Surrender is the simple but profound wisdom of yielding to rather than opposing the flow of life. The only place where you can experience the flow of life is the Now, so to surrender is to accept the present moment unconditionally and without reservation. It is to relinquish inner resistance to what is. Inner resistance is to say "no" to what is, through mental judgment and emotional negativity. It becomes particularly pronounced when things "go wrong," which means that there is a gap between the demands or rigid expectations of your mind and what is. That is the pain gap. If you have lived long enough, you will know that things "go wrong" quite often. It is pre-cisely at those times that surrender needs to be practiced if you want to eliminate pain and sorrow from your life. Acceptance of what is immediately frees you from mind identification and thus reconnects you.

Yes there are lots of us who struggle with worrying just about different things..Its our perception and how we challenge them that will help us.

How about this for a change..Lets change the message title to:

NOT CONVINCED ITS CANCER

This is and would be and example of the 10 question list at work...

They say I have a 80 plus percent of having Cancer but I also have 20 percent chance of not having Cancer. So I choose to look at the positive side of it..This eases my fears..

Than comes the what if's...

What if after surgery we find that it is cancer..What if the surgery get rids of the cancer? What if it does not?

Than what? We look for alternative treatments,.etc..There is hope that it can be cured..and if not than I will do what I already am doing and that is enjoy my life the best way I can and to the fullest..

This is my way of challenging my anxious thoughts and fears..

Hi Deb and Mike,
You two aren't the only ones who struggle with worrying.

There's something called the "panic cycle" which I get drawn into, and it's a lot of work to get out of it  It's hard to even know what's happening...
