Dear Diva, Way to go!!! Congratulations on facing your fear and persevering. You should feel proud of yourself what an accomplishment. You are always the first to respond to our postings and offer words of encouragement that at times I think that some of us forget that you have problems to deal with too. I am so happy for you and how well you did with your presentation.

Thanks guys for the tips, I did use them, the relaxation, the visualisation and the practicing in front of family. Today was a tough day. I had trouble focusing during my first class because I knew I had my presentation during my second class. Then doing the presentation was really nerve racking. But I DID IT!!!!!!! I went to both my classes today. I did my presentation and I managed to keep my stress low enough that I did not have a panic attack! Compared to my last presentation where I panicked before and didn't even do it, it is one heck of an improvement. On top of it one girl told me she was amazed at how calm I looked doing my presentation LOL! Inside I was shaking and I felt nauseous but it seems that on the outside I looked cool as a cucumber! I am so happy that I did this! It was something I really needed to prove to myself especially after last time's debacle! I am very happy and proud atm. I don't know how good my grade will be but man oh man I did it and this is better then an A+. This is something I did for I to regain part of my life and I succeeded. I could cry I am so happy with myself. Anyway, sorry if I sound like I am bragging but this is really a super big deal for me. I was so terrified of this. But it went well and I am happy and thank you to you who answered me and gave me tips they did help quite a lot! Those tips made a big difference for me so thanks again! -Diva <3

Diva, In addition to visualization exercises, you may want to try practicing your presentation in front of friends or family. Before your practice run try utilizing your relaxation techniques to bring your anxiety levels down as low as possible. Hope this helps. Danielle ______________________ The PC Support Team

Hey Diva, First and foremost, dont be upset at your last presentation. Remember, if we fail that is not a bad thing. See that failure as a blessing....something you can look back at and learn from for the next time. I know you are afraid. I know you feel guilty for the last experience. But please try to reverse your thoughts on this. Try to see it as something that can make you stronger by trying AGAIN. And you know what, it does not have to be perfect ( i always want to make sure my presenations are perfect with the top grade lol).... but we really have to just TRY OUR BEST. So really, no matter what happens, look back and say "i did it, and i tried my best for today....Maybe next time i can even try harder!!" I want you to also keep in mind that you are not the only one who is going to be anxious for presenting. It is a fact that lots of people get anxious from presenting in front of others, and even writing exams makes every human being anxious. Its just certain things in life that we must face, and that make us anxious. Now of course, our levels of anxiety may be higher than others in our class. But that is ok, we must accept ourselves the way it is and know that we will work on it! I suggest visualization. A day before the presentation (if you havn't already presented)lay down and close your eyes. Just imagine what YOU WANT TO HAPPEN. Imagine yourself presenting a wonderful presentation and you professor being really impresed by it. Imagine your anxiety level down. Feel that sense of calmness and alertness in your body. Really make it real! And do this again before you present. Believe me, this works miracles. What you visualize in the mind (and truly believe it) will actually happen! Trust yourself and dont be hard on yourself. We are all here for you girl. You can do this no matter how anxious you are! Let me know how it goes! ;)

These last few days I have been feeling sick like I have gastro-intestinal flue. Things is, sometimes when I am very anxious I get these symptoms. And I did have a panic attack which left me shook up just the other day. Now, also, when I am sick I feel more anxious. So at the moment, I am not sure if I am sick which is making me anxious, if I am anxious which is making me sick or if I am sick and anxious lol. I guess in the long run it hardly matters; it will pass one way or another. But I know something else comes into play with the anxiety side of this little puzzle. I HAVE A 20 MINUTE PRESENTATION TO MAKE ALONE IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS!!!!!!! Now as you can see this is a big deal for me. Last time I had a presentation I had a really bad panic attack and ended up not doing it and going home. Luckily it was a team paper and since I had done most of the research work on it, my team-mates took up my part of the presentation and asked the teacher to give me the same grade as them. But this lives me with the tough situation that my last presentation was a failure and that now I have one to do and I am really quite scared. For the past two days I have tried to challenge my thoughts about this at least once a day. Also, I am done fixing up the PowerPoint part of the presentation so I know that is ready. But I am still really afraid of this. Worse part is I know if I calm down I can do really well at this I have always gotten really good grades on these things when I manage to calm down enough to do this. Anyway, I would appreciate any tips on how to stay calm and do this. This is one goal I would really like to succeed at. I would be so proud of myself. So any tips on how to relax stay clam and get through this would really be great! Thanks a ton! -Diva
