Congrats on 13 days! I am at Day 17 now and am still baffled by the surprise cravings in the 12-14 day range, they sneak up and just pummel you, but as baffling as they are its just as confusing that they stopped at day 14 in the same manner, I went to the bulk food store and bought sugar-free power mints, they are very strong but I found it really helped for when the cravings got really bad, it really does get better, with each passing day it gets alittle bit more easy and you learn alittle bit more about yourself. Good luck!!

Yeah, Kat, that demon is cunning, baffling, and powerful. I've learned that you won't outsmart it or beat it at its own game. The only way to win is to avoid him/her/it. Give the demon no air time. During more peaceful times, try to fortify your quit, because once these cravings start you can only use the tools you have in your toolkit at that moment. Things will actually get better. The cravings will lessen and get farther and farther apart. We can make you that promise.

Hang In There - it's tough but will get better. I walked a lot and still do, drink lots of water, constantly sucked on crushed ice and deep breathing. Focus and dwell on the benefits of quitting instead of smoking. Read and post often. Rant & rave or vent here in the forum, ask for help or advice to keep on your quit journey.

First of all congratulations on 12 days smoke-free! The best ways to remain smoke-free are:
Pay attention to the progress you've made.
Review gains:
- in your health and sense of well being
- adjusting to life without smoking,
- coping with the desire to smoke,
- becoming a person who is seen as a non smoker.
Continue to keep your determination to stay quit. When that wavers review your reasons for quitting.Look ahead to the next rewards that you'll get from not smoking. Consider the high risk situations that you will face in the future. What are they? In the next week, month, year?
Milestone 4 has a great section on when you will be tempted, work through this activity it will help you learn ways to cope with tempting situations.
Members, how did you remain strong when experiencing cravings?
Kat the first two weeks are hard. The craves will come out of nowhere and sometimes they are very strong. It is important to have some preset coping strategies in place to call upon when the hit. I would either grab a tootsie pop or go for a quick walk.
