Day 5 was a struggle

Andrea,  I am so proud of you. You didn't go in and buy a pack or get a stinky butt out of the ashtray.  You got throught yesterday and you can get throught today.  Takeing slow deep breaths and letting it out slowly has helped me get through many a crave and water is good also walking or something physical.  My last 2 days have been tough also.  One thing I know for sure is that it will get better it always does.

Hi Andrea.

I do have to say that you should be soooo proud of yourself for getting through that crave.  The "sneak attack" ones do happen when you least expect it.  I get them and the best thing I've done is when they pass,....and they do, I reward myself for not falling into that place again.  Plus, I have a plan to deal with them when they do happen.  I have sugar free candy and gum in every purse I own...and I have cinnamon flavoured toothpicks that help me keep my hands busy.

When you mentioned the butts in the ashtray, I had a little grin on my face.  My hubby smokes still and the ashtray is outside on the balcony all the time.  I have contemplated looking for half smoked cigs too but resisted.

Just take it one craving at a time...it does get easier!!

Reward yourself often and I'm looking forward to hearing how you reward yourself for making it through hell week!!

It was like an 8 hour crave.  I was doing so well all week, it threw me.  I stopped to gas up the car, and it took every ounce of energy I had to not walk in and buy a pack.  Hubby went out last night, and contemplated checking the ashtray outside for a cig that wasn't completely smoked.

I didn't do any of that, but today isn't much better.  The first few days seemed easier than this.  I've been humbled
