I tried patches, cold turkey and Wellbutrin before.
I used Chantix this time, and an Allen Carr Seminar, and the book of course!
I has worked for me. This is my longest quit ever! And I plan to stay like this adding one day at a time!

Definitely, the gum. I tried the patches, and they kept falling off. All in all, they did not deliver enough nicotine to keep me quit. Needed to wear two. The lozenges were like candy to me. I didn't notice any effects. I have asthma so I never tried the inhaler or nasal spray. For a while, I was convinced that cold turkey was the way to go, that I'd be really proud of myself if I managed to pull it off. Plus, I figured that even if I used NRT, at some point I'd still have to go cold turkey. And most people in the world who quit do so cold turkey. However, I realized that I was going to have to use NRT after a number of failed cold turkey tries. I just really wasn't getting very many days, and the days I did get were hellish. Cold turkey also made my bipolar disorder worse--a no no. In the past, I had managed to get 3 years and 3 months using the gum. I think the gum works best for me because I can more easily regulate the amount of nicotine I get. (I can't do that wth the patch, since those are one a day.) Chewing the gum also keeps my mouth busy. I found that I just naturally start to chew less and less, which makes it easy to give it up altogether when the time comes. I think that naturally chewing less comes from the fact that my mouth gets tired.
