Hi Pat, This is a great idea. I try to be upbeat, positive, and down right happy about my quit. Music is a huge part of my life....I love it, love it, love it. So, I pick out the most positive, fun, upbeat, and happy music for me and then I dance all over my house when a craving hits. The best music to me is music from the 50's and 60's. A craving hits, I pop in Sam Cooke singing Twistin' the Night Away, and take off. LOL The craving leaves, I get to check out my lung capacity and see the improvment, I get to keep my weight down, and all while I'm having a blast. Hello my friends and all the new people I haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, Some of you know I have had what I consider a feakishly "easy" quit since I put out my final cigarette and therefore have seldom posted in this forum. My quit is and has still been work, but mainly on the mental side. I think it's been easy for me because of all the preperation I did beforehand and my commitment to having a positive, happy quit. Prior to my quit I spent a really brutal few weeks cutting back cold turkey and I will remember those cravings forever and how hard it was to fight through each and every one of them. I have found a few ways to help get through some of my tough moments and thought we could start a list of actual ideas for things that have helped us. So here's one of my methods and I hope everyone else will add something a little different than our all important water, straws and chocolate staples. I know there are tons of you out there that will have some really good ones. ~~~I wrote out lots of flash cards with 2 choices on them, each could be completed in under 30 minutes~~~ One was something that needed to be done, the other was a reward I would like to do. Ex: ~Wash the living room windows and see the clean air through them ~Light a scented candle, and take a long fragrant bubble bath When I had a craving or even a withdrawl symptom, I picked out a card at random or kept picking cards till I found one I felt like doing. It sure helped pass the time and gave me options, depending on my mood. I still have tons of cards left that I never even used! :) Pat My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,867 Amount Saved: $994 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 8 Mins: 49 Seconds: 20

My craves are at a minimum now, but at the beginning with bad craves my wife and I made a list of things that needed to be done around the house, no matter how small. Fix, clean, put up something. Whenever I had a crave, I would go take care of something on that list. Living in Ohio, I have even come up with seasonal and holiday lists so I always have something to be done around the house. Before I would've looked at that list, gone to the garage, lit up and think about how it was going to get done, start it, take a smoke break, work on it, take a smoke break, etc....
