THank you it is very encouraging I can live with a bit of tiredness I am day 3 I was prescibed 37.5 but I decided to start with half of that I break it open and pour it on apple sauce... I say at least I have started. I have no idea why I am so nervous about it I know it will help I have never had really any major problems with other meds. Well that is our disorder for you everything makes me nervous anticipatory anxiety, the depression is making my anxiety even worse what a cycle. So far no really really bad panics though. Sorry for rambling just wanted to drop a note to you. Tita

Hi Tita, I have been on it since January and am now on 150mg. I started at the lowest does and have been moved up gradually. I'm a little tired each time I am moved up but it only lasts a few days and then I am fine. The important thing is to take this with food. Steph

Hi Tita, Good luck with the Effexor. I find out today whether my dose is going to be increased or not. So far, so good with my Effexor. There have been nights where I have had some night sweats and I have had a little bit of weight gain. But that could of been caused by things such as "overeating" and not my meds. I have been sleeping better while using Effexor. With the Paxil I was up 3-4 times a night. I still have the sexual side effects with the Effexor, but that doesn't mean you will. I just have no interest in it. My poor husband. I use my Ativan for when I am challenging myself also.

Hi Steph and Veronica, I am joining I just got prescibed Effexor I am on nothing right now. I do take Activan too as needed I usually only take it when I have to face heavy traffic or something like that been out there challenging myself. I will be starting on 37.5 as well. I used to be on Celexa about almost 1yr ago too much weight gain, sexual dysfunction made me stop taking it I use to get night sweats too. Everyone I know and most people I have read about has had positive results from effexor so I am hopeful. Tita

Hi Veronica, Somebody recommended knitting back in September of last year and I have been doing it ever since. Keeps my hands busy and I am usually counting in my head. I also crochet but I find knitting helps me more. Housework, or I will clean out a closet or something, that I have been meaning to do. Go out and play with the dogs. I don't like walking around my area in the winter as the roads are covered with ice, and we get too much snow. I have a whole list of things I do. Reading doesn't work for me. Having a bath or a hot tub relaxes me. My Dr. taught me how to meditate and I also have relaxation tapes that I listen to. 6 months ago I wouldn't have even tried them. Now I listen to them when I am anxious and at bedtime. Counting breaths helps me when I am anxious and out of the house. I am on the computer a lot as I have a number of research projects that I do. If there is nothing to do I create something, or sometimes I will lay down and have a nap if I think my anxiety is because I'm tired. Morning use to be a terrible time for me, as it seemed it was the longest part of my day. Plus my 2 main attacks came on in the morning. Do you take your ativan when you are having the anxiety? I have been able to cut my dose in half the last 3 days, but I am having headaches each day. By the way, you can email me at stephanie at i-zoom.net if you like. It may be easier and it doesn't look like anyone is going to join into our conversation!!! TTYS:o) Stephanie

Morning Stephanie, What do you do during the day to help you forget the anxiety? My Dr. told me to increase the dose by half if my axiety didn't settle down a little bit or if it got worse. I feel anxious mostly in the morning, as soon as I get up. How about you? I mean how much housework can I do? Hope you are having a good day. Bye for now Veronica

Hi Veronica, I'm off to my Dr. next Monday. I'm not sure if she will up my Effexor this time or not. The plan is to at least get me up to 150 but with the Anxiety this past week she may wait and see if it was the Effexor causing it or coming off of the Paxil. My 12 year old takes this all a little harder than my 14 year old. She was the one who found me passed out when my symptoms returned in August. My hus. called an ambulance and I was taken to the hospital. Both of them know that I deal with Anxiety, but I don't discuss it around them and we keep everything as normal as possible, whether I am having an anxious day or not. Anxiety runs in my family back 3 generations, so my Dr. has advised me to keep an eye on my kids for any symptoms. My first Panic attack was when I was 14 but I didn't know it was a panic attack, and never gave it another thought. My next was at 16 and then not another until I was 26. Have a good day Stephanie

Hi Steph, I live about half an hour north of Orangeville, outside of town, but I do have the advantage of driving. I have three kids, 8. 11 and 18. My oldest is living in residence at Humber College. He started last Sept. and it was hard to let him go, but ya have to do it. I saw my shrink today. He wants me to stay with the same dose unless my anxiety worsens. He let's me decide . I have read it takes 4-6 weeks as well. Today i felt depressed not alot of anxiety though. I wish sometimes that I was into winter but that is not likely going to happen. My husband is supportive too. How do your kids react to this stuff we are going through? I try my best to keep everything going as normal they know I am feeling bad but are too young to get the whole picture and I don't really need to explain anything to them at their age. My oldset knows more but he's out there trying his life out so I don't have to worry about him seeing me this way. I have support from a couple of friends but they have never gone through this. Do you work? I look forward to the evenings as well. My husband comutes to the airport each day and his arrival time home is unpredidtable. Thanks for keeping is touch. I hope we have a good week. Bye for now Veronica

Hi Veronica, I'm near Peterborough, ON. Winter also has me pretty much stuck in the house. We live just outside of a small town, too far for me to walk and I don't drive. (one of the things I need to work on) Never had my license and it is one of goals. My husband is pretty great. He stayed home when I had my major attacks and his boss was really supportive about him taking the time he needed. I am fine with staying at home alone, with the exception of my husband soending the night away. He usually only has to do this once and a while but there are months when it is 2 or 3 times and my anxiety is usually worse. My kids are 14 and 12 so both are in school. I am fine as long as I keep myself on a routine but I must say I live for the weekends and evenings when everyone is home. My Shrink hasn't really said anything about time frame. but I have read that it takes abt. 6 weeks to feel the full affects. Yesterday was good for me again. Hope it was the same for you!!! Steph
