Change of Season?

Penguin, I feel a little inadequate to offer any kind of advice. But what I can say is that we know the junkie's voice gets louder and more convincing when we are going through things that leave us feeling vulnerable. You've got an awesome quit going there girl. If you can make the decision to hold on - one more day - tomorrow may feel different. And if it still feeld like today you make that decision again. You can do this. You know how, you've been doing it for 254 days! Absolutely, DO NOT let those junkie thoughts win. Relapsing will not help your Dad at all. And if you are anything like me, the guilt and shame you will feel with another failed attempt is too big a price to pay! Hang in there Penguin. There are so many people here who care about you and your quit. Good on you for reaching out! Penguin, Think of all you have been through to get this far in your quit. I have found so much comfort and knowledge in your posts & I thank you for that. Now I am asking you to ask yourself this--- if smoking was so great why did you quit in the first place? Remember those feelings of guilt and inadequacy because you smoked & the intimidation of the thoughts of giving them up? You now KNOW they are NOT your best friend & you need to fimly remind yourself of this. As for your dad, try to give him hope by not going back there. You know he's watching you and thinking--'what a great job she's doing, I'll have to try again'...now be his inspiration Take it one minte, one hour at a time today. Remember NOPE.... Tomorrow is another day--& I promise it will be easier... {{{{{hugs}}}}}} Deb My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 660 Amount Saved: $148.50 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 13 Mins: 21 Seconds: 56

Is it the change in season? Is it the new stressful job I just started three weeks ago? Is it the Easter Holiday, and spending time with family? It's been going on for a few weeks, and seems to be coming to a head these last two days. Increased thoughts, which aren't so easily dismissed. The frequent dicussions in my head about whether to give in or not. The junkie is a liar, I know that, but the list of excuses the junkie is coming up with is extremely long right now. To top it all off, some of you may remember that my father quit smoking last May at the age of 77. I was so proud, and extremely motivated to keep quit because of it. Well he has relapsed, and I soooo want to join him, as ridiculous as it sounds, but I so very very tired of this right now. Posting before smoking. Sometimes the Junkie needs to hear someone else talk for awhile. I'm all ears!
