A positive thought or statement is 100 times more powerful than a negative thought or statement, according to scientists who measure that type of thing....that alone tell you why it works! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 372 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,300 Amount Saved: $3,924.60 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 21 Mins: 16 Seconds: 36

Greetings all! I am positive that positive thinking is the answer to getting through another non-smoking day!! Every morning when I wake up, I tell myself, "This is going to be another GREAT non-smoking day!!!" I try to repeat it to myself several times during the day and it has seemed to make my quit a lot easier!!! Leading up to my quit day, I was pretty sad and somewhat depressed. I was in this state of mind because, Whaaaa... I won't be able to smoke any more... what am I going to do??? Well, after getting on this site and going through the milestones and reading all of the positive support, I had a real change in my mindset and began thinking more positively!!! I really think that it would have been on hell of a diffacult time for me on this quit if I hadn't begun to think of the positives!!! So, thanks Josie for bringing this topic up and thanks to every on else on this thread and entire site for being so positive and supportive!!! Sure makes everything easier for me!!! Cabbage, It was sure good of you to return to the site after a year or so away. I wish you could have been here when I was in the throes of withdrawal. When we talk about positive thinking let's keep it all positive! Affirm daily that you WILL succeed. Affirm that your life is getting BETTER. Look at all those silver linings! The clouds just make them possible. Sunshine, dandelions, and more money, affirm daily and they will all come your way. Sometimes I find myself in a very negative mental space, I've come to learn that if I'm tired the negative thinking is at it's worst...so I've started to take short naps if I can fit one in...it's amazing the difference a power nap can make! Sometimes I have no idea that I'm sleepy until I put my head down for bit. After 40 winks I feel much better and am able to see the bright side of things again. As for spring and rebirth...well, here in Winnipeg that's all still coming up just around the corner :-) The snow is beginning to melt as the days are getting milder...my favorite thing about spring are the lilac bushes all in bloom! This may sound silly, but I just love dandilions - I know, I know, they're a weed. Yet to me they are my childhood, the first 'flowers' I ever picked for my mom, the first flower crown I ever wove, the first brightness of spring - bring on the dandilions!!! Hi Josie, I'm positively thinking that I can make more headway on my mini-thesis today. I'm positively thinking that it is a beautiful sunny day and even though my daffodils are finished blooming, the dogwoods are about to explode in flowers and the camellias are covered in buds. Which means there is new life just around the bend. And I'm totally, absolutely, completely, 100 percent positive that I will NOT smoke today! Thanks, Josie, for all you do! Members, This past month we have had you focus on anger and its counterparts. It is now time to discuss one last component; the power of positive thinking. Over the next week, we invite all members to keep track with pen & paper how many good or positive thoughts are you having each day? Dont forget to post your results here and tune in on Thursday for part II! Josie
