Sparky - I love that graphic! It is so true! (btw, moss, sparky didn't mean to say you are a non-smoker and she is a winner...but she is so, you can say that, too, if you want. ;)) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 101 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,030 Amount Saved: $590.85 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 1 Mins: 26 Seconds: 0

Moss, sorry to tell you but you are normal. I don't understand why one day all is good and bamm out of no where that stinking thinking creeps in. Some days you feel like "Why? Why am I doing this to myself?" Careful that is the monster talking. For me this was a very dangerous time for me. I lost more quits around this time and sure hope you do not. Believe me it is so NOT worth it, unless you like going though withdrawal. Moss go look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are a non smoker and I am a winner. Tell yourself you are so worth the quit. You will be fine, stay close. Hi Moss, Unfortunately, it's normal. The alcohol might have contributed to the sudden dive in dopamine (feel good neurotransmitter produced in your brain). Both nicotine & alcohol access similar pathways in your brain. Have you tried rewarding yourself for hanging tight? Often a good remedy for dumpy moods. Hang in there. This too shall pass. Moss, this is normal. I know it sucks. Deep breaths. Look for some positivity, how you feel, what smells and tastes good, how much energy you have, etc... I spent alot of time reading here during this time in my quit. It will pass, I promise, it is worth it. It is all in how you chose to deal with it, non-smokers get the dumps too, that is what you are now, so chose your way to deal. Mine was shopping, eating and drinking therapy and I think i have it down pat :) hang tough Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 215 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,150 Amount Saved: $376.25 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 10 Mins: 58 Seconds: 11

Hi Moss, It's probably just another phase. There are a lot of surprises that go along with quitting smoking. At least for me there have been. Hang in there and do whatever you would normally do if you felt down. Positive self-talk, a reward, anything... Regarding the cravings, just keep using your tools; breathe deep, drink lots of cold water, read, post, exercise, whatever works. It'll get better. I promise! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 101 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,030 Amount Saved: $590.85 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 1 Mins: 21 Seconds: 41

I'm not sure what has happened the last few days but I seem to be stuck in a frame of mind that is not pleasant and is not going away. The cravings made themselves at home 3 days ago and it feels like they are thinking about moving in permanently. I went to bed Friday night proud and positive and woke up Saturday in the dumps and in doubt of being able to stick. I did recognize Saturday that there was a big trigger in effect. We were snowed in, rented some movies, had a bottle of wine in the fridge, and no pressures from the work world. This has always been like a little vacation for my wife and I. And what goes better on Vaca than a good ole smoke, (or ten). Anyway, I looked at that in the eye and said, OK, this is a big trigger. Now let's move on. The problem is that the "moving on" seems to be stuck in the neutral gear. This is the first time in my 2 weeks that I can't seem to step across that battle-line. It has been 3 days now. I like to post when I feel like I can close with a positive note and I'm trying. My HOOOOO_HOOOOO is stuck in FOO_FOO mode. I have not smoked. If this resonates with you please let me borrow your steering wheel today.
