Chantix users - how did you feel?

for 17 år siden 0 16 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I am only on day 3 of taking Chantix and seem to be doing fine with the exception of some nausea when I first take it. The cigarettes aren't tasting too good, but I don't know if that is the medicine or my mind telling me that. I thought of giving them up sooner than the 7 days, but don't want to jeopardize anything with not following the instructions. I have been trying today to go longer without going outside on break at work and that seems to be working. I can't tell whether I really want the cigarette or its just the habit of going out at a certain time. I guess one day at a time. Candi

I had the same experience - didn't quit until a little over two weeks on the Chantix. I am now starting day 7 as a non smoker and each day has gotten easier. When I did my log this morning, I checked "1" for cravings. They really have gone way down by now. The first two days were the toughest, for sure, but also do-able. If you just know that it will get better each day it becomes possible. Chantix has really helped a lot with this, my final quit. I have never, ever made it this far before. Now I know I can be quit for good. So far so good for me on the chantix. It took me an extra week to quit, I tried at 9 days on the pills, and I caved after work, but after just over 2 weeks on chantix, I was able to make it the first full day...getting that under my belt felt good. I still have "urges" at certain times of the day, and I was pretty cranky last night, but I was patient with myself and just rode it out. I just want to be done with this and I now realize, chantix or no chantix, I can never have another cig again! Lauren, If you do not get the answers you need, do a search within the forum and see all the knowledge that members have shared. It is also important to check with your doctor and pharmacist regarding side effects and completing dosages :) Josie, Support Specialist

I drink what my doctor calls high doses of caffeine...tea, iced tea, cola all day long. I did not have any problems with chantix. Like you, I wasn't going to give up all of my bad habits all at once. I still haven't given up all of them. I did gain 15 pounds. I think unless you are very diligent about exercise and food intake, a weight gain of a few pounds is inevitable. Those darn chocolate rewards did me in. Yes, I was very good to myself. LOL Good luck to you...you can do this...and Chantix can help you. Hey everyone, I'm a newbie and also a Chantix user. Today was my 12th pill, and I have been quit for 4 days. I get some nausea in the morning with my first pill, but it passes pretty quickly. I'm just wondering if I should expect a weight gain? I'm a naturally slim person, so I'm hoping my metabolism will work for me, but am kind of worried about it. Not enough to go back to cigarettes, though! I already feel so much better without them. Also, for those of you who have completed Chantix, are you experiencing any withdrawals from the medication or finding the urge to start smoking again? Just curious. Thanks!

Starfish, Check with your doctor and pharmacist regarding side effects and dosages. Perhaps trying decaf may assist you with your coffee fix or caffeine free for the soda fix :) Josie, Support Specialist

I have a question that I don't know if anyone can answer or not, but has anyone found any bad side effects with Chantix and high amounts of caffeine? I know that caffeine is not good for you, but I can only tackle one hurdle at a time and really cannot go through nicotine withdrawals and caffeine withdrawals at the same time.
