Beren
So glad to hear from you, I was wondering where you had been. I am sorry that you are having a rough time of it. I can't tell you anything about chantix as I did the patch and welbutrin(zyban). I am sorry that you are unable to get chantix, it seems to help a lot of folks...
To tell you the truth, the patch and zyban were over kill for me. I really only needed the patch. The zyban was good as it kind of made the cigarettes taste funky and it chilled me out fairly well.
I know how hard you are trying and it breaks my heart to see you struggle so. I also am fully aware of how difficult this can be. You know and I know that in order to do this thing, you must submit your will, attitude and very being to the task. I don't mean this in the way of taking on some huge unmanageable burden and sweating and crawling up some impossibly high mountain. I am talking about raising a quiet, but steely strong attitude about it...to the point that not smoking becomes who you are...I know that sounds odd, particularly because I just advised you to become a verb when you are clearly a noun. However, because a verb indicates movement, that is what you must become. This is not simply a cessation of an action (smoking), you are engaging in a process of putting on a new way of being and moving through this world in a different manner.
Eventually this will get easier, as the idea of smoking a cigarette truly becomes a choice. Right now it is not a choice it is an obsession, an addiction that you must and will break. So take your time and stay right here with us, we will always speak to you when you need us, simply because we understand the addiction. We also know full well that we are fragile as eggs...But what keeps us from breaking is that part of us that now chooses daily to not smoke...You too can develop that ability, all it takes is a willingness and a belief in yourself...
Stay well and quit
