Princess Sounds like you have a case of everything going on at once. That is distressing. It might be helpful for you to remember that all of this will be happening if you are addicted or if you break your addiction. For me it is better to endure the moment in the knowledge that endurance will give birth to a stronger and more capeable me. A cigarette does nothing for us except make us slowly sick while creating the illusion that we "feel" better. Nicotine provides a dream state of logical inconsistency. That is why it is so difficult to do the very thing you have already done for 71 days. If you let this pass without smoking, you will enter the zone of adaptation. Each time you are able to suffer through another crisis, you become stronger and the addiction fades. I know it is not easy, if it where no one would smoke. Your TOTALLY NORMAL...AND IT WILL GET BETTER. Are you on NRT? Just curious. We all need to understand that this thing takes allot longer than a couple of weeks. If we stick it out we reap the benefits. If we don't we will never know what a great life is ahead of us. To throw away that many days means you were on the brink of gaining freedom and seeing big gains. Maybe you were only a few weeks away. In the sceeme of things a few weeks is nothing. Princess remember we are still learning, and will be for a long time, how to react to siutaions and stresses. Previously our first response was to light up because that is how we were conditioned. Because of the power of this addiction those years of conditioning are going to take time to overcome. However, you proved you are strong enough to push back. You know lighting up would not have changed a thing for the better. 71 days is a great job, just keep doing what you are doing one day, one situation at a time. Princess Well done on staying quit for 71 days. No easy feat, but you have done it. I was where you were this morning - in the pity pot. Feeling sorry for myself. My son and hubby were leaving for a 3 day camping trip and I was already feeling lonely and wanting "a friend". The junkie in me jumped right on that bandwagon with all kinds of "good ideas" to make me feel better. And I was right there - listening to those good ideas...until.....in a moment of a clarity, I thought....wait a minute...I've heard these lies before. Fortunately I know the truth. Smoking will not make me feel better, in fact, I will feel horrible if I smoked. Right then and there I told myself "I am not going to smoke!!!!!" One will mean the whole pack and then another and I, like you, don't want to go through this again. I've done it way too many times. Don't listen to the junkie thinking. Quitmyster had some very good advice. Time for some "You" time. Keep the quit. You will not be sorry.
