Hey Freedombound, I'm sorry I missed your post before. I can SO relate to that -- I quit many times, never for more than a few hours. I know some other people have mentioned it, but there are so many new drugs out there now that this agony is really not necessary! Do you have a doctor? If so, if I were you, I'd make an appointment, get an RX for chantix, and set a quit date far enough into the future for the chantix to do its thing. That would also give you time to develop and use all of the great tools here at SCC, not the least of which is loading up your crash cart with gum, carrots, candies... whatever. If you make your doctor part of your quit, I'll bet you anything it will really "take" this time. We're all with you!! peteg My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 130 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,500 Amount Saved: $715 Life Gained: Days: 23 Hrs: 17 Mins: 46 Seconds: 33

Progress, Please be sure to ask your doctor how long you should be taking your aids for. Most treatment regiments require you be on them for longer than a month. Also be sure to familiarize yourself with our online quit program. It is a great tool that can help you plan your quit. If you have any questions, just ask. freedombound - There will always be so much stress, and so much confusion and chaos, and never will there be a "good" time to quit. Quitting is about quitting, no matter what's going on and no matter what challenges arrive at our door... Take good care of YOU and when you're ready, we'll all be right here to support you, my friend. Freedom....you have to realize that there are only "excuses" that let the junky take over your thinking and then your actions and then you are lighting up again. There are NO "reasons" to smoke....only reasons NOT to. and you have to want NOT to more than you want to light up. Get rid of all your smoking materials....lay plans so you don't have to go to a store of any kind for a few days.....and then when the crave hits, just "choose" to wait it out.....trust this....the crave will pass whether you smoke or not. Keep yourself busy and don't let that junky come around and do your thinking for you. YOU choose....and you choose NOT to light up....don't think too far ahead...I mean, don't do the 'omg, I can't do this forever' thinking. Just do it for right now. hang tough....it CAN be done....get determined and get committed Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1888 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75,550 Amount Saved: $10761.6 Life Gained: Days: 249 Hrs: 2 Mins: 15 Seconds: 4

freedom, I am glad that you are writing your thoughts as this can really help. Make a quit date work and up to it. Get prepared and use those activities to keep you busy. You also need to take you time and relax, this can make for a better more refreshed day. We are always here and ready when you are :) Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
