for 20 år siden 0 2 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Am writing for my girlfreind, she just started 10mg of lexapro 4 days ago for depression and anxiety. Her only complaint is with a little dizzyness, tired, and heartburn. Just wondering if there is anything that helps with heartburn since the usual drugs dont work, like maalox, rolaids, ect. Any help would be appreciated.

Rich - I have been on Lexapro for about 4-1/2 months now, and it's really helped me alot! I, too, felt kind of 'speedy' at first, but it's just you getting used to the med. It doesn't last long, and it's worth going thru it to find out if it helps you. Give it a chance to work, it has really changed my life and given me a chance to concentrate on changing my thoughts instead of panicking all the time! Nicole, I don't know what it's like to get off of it, but I would certainly ask my doctor if it's time for you to quit it. My dr said that alot of people quit taking the meds too soon, and then they are right back where they started, or worse. He said people start to feel better and then they think that the problem is solved. Use the time on the meds to change your way of thinking, that truly is the key. Meds just help us to be able to concentrate on changing our thoughts. I am using this time to find ways to change the way I think about things, and practicing making these changes a habit. A habit takes a while to develop. Good luck to all!

I have been on Lexapro for my panic disorder for about 3 weeks now...my side effects went away about a week ago although I still get a dry mouth...but its nothing aa little water cant fix. I feel alot better as my anxiety has gotten more faint. It really depends on the person when it comes to how you react to certain medications. I just have one question...I want to get off the Lexapro asap...does anyone know if there are any withdrawls to doing so?? Thanks for your input...It really feels good to know your not alone. I wish you all good health...and remember one thing...we are all stronger than any illness that comes our way. I try to remember that during my worst panic attacks.

Dear Rich, Living with the side effects of medication can be difficult. If you find them really bothersome go see your Doctor, let them know how you have been feeling. Also, if you plan on stopping them meds be sure to consult your Doctor first. Susanne

Rich, I know who you feel. At first the side effects are so much like a PA. It took about 2 week for me to feel "normal". I also kept telling myself over and over again, this is not a PA, it is only the meds. It helped. I had the racing heart, spaced out feeling also. My Dr started me taking 1/4 of a 10mg and now I take 1/2. This is working great for me. Maybe if it is just too much, talk to your Dr about the dosage. Hang in there Rich It gets better. I haven't felt this great in a while. I hope it works for you!!!!! Shannon Let me know if you have any questions.

I have just started on Lexapro about a week ago at 10mg. And the side effects have been getting me pretty scared. They come and go (but most are constant) as I get distracted from thinking about my anxiety and its symptoms (disorientation and lack of concentration). From what I have read on this forum Lexapro's side effects are a lot like my anxiety symptoms. So it is hard to differentaite from side effects and symptoms. Sometimes I wonder if I am having side effects at all or if I am just having anxiety. But I think I feel different than normal on the Lexapro. I feel really keyed up. It was good to see that Shannon had gotten past her side effects. I am looking foward to getting past mine also. I had considered stopping taking the medication - but I want to stick with it so that I can beat this. But it is awfuly hard.

Dear ent11781, Whether or not side effects ease up or go away at all are based on the individual who is taking them, everyone is different. Be sure to report any side effects to your Doctor. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Susanne

Your very welcome Ms Shannon. And I thank you and everyone else in here for their kind words. Its so nice to have this place! I can't believe all the discussions going on today. My only problem is trying to keep up. Once I leave my work computer and then come home to my home computer, the settings are all different and I can't be sure I've caught up on everything or not!! If I appear to have ignored anyone or haven't responded to something someone has directed to me....I promise its not done intentionally!
