Help! First Friday and Saturday night in my quit

for 18 år siden 0 2631 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Way to go on getting through your first weekend Tony - I found the weekends to be the toughest because I was busy during the work week. You have been given lots of good ideas. My best days included exercise, shopping, (maybe a hockey game if nephews were playing) and basically just about anything that didn't involve spending too much time by myself. You are doing just fine....Congrats on week 1! Tony, how about walking, going to the show or renting movies(as previously mentioned). Sleep in, or like Gonna said, go shopping! All smoke free ideas. Keep strong, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

If you have a hard time of it, come over to our house! Tomorrow we head to the field to cut a tree and decorate it. This year our color scheme is blue and silver. Go to your local Lowe's store on Saturday mornings. They usually have a craft or home improvement workshop going on. Address those Christmas cards and head to the post office for stamps. Watch my buddy Norm on HGTV and construct me that potting bench he makes as my Christmas present. Wouldn't you LOVE to have a workshop like his? It's real hard to smoke while you cut out paper snowflakes (you could poke yourself in the eye with scissors if you're not careful!) Clean out your closet. All those coats you have that you out-grew when you began this quit could be put to good use at the salvation army! Help deliver lunch for meals on wheels to the elderly or volunteer at your local homeless shelter. Adopt an angel at Walmart and spend a little of that money you saved on a child that will otherwise not see a Christmas. Are you getting tired yet? Whew, that was quite a list of things to do this weekend! Oh, go watch a sappy movie, stop by bath and body and buy some soaking salts and body lotion, have a good cry on the way home, make a strong tea and take a hot bath before bed. I know this sounds simple, but I would tell myself that if I smoke I am going to have to go through that week all over again. That was enough to keep me from smoking. Starting over sucks! HI TonyS I found that the weekends were easier ! Without the workday stress and associated problems the weekends are more relaxed and triggers easier to cope with. If you keep yourself amused you will find it passes without any drama. Sure watch your alcohol intake but don't sit around doing nothing, keep your self occupied and avoid those situations where you used to light up. You will be fine and come monday you will be feeling very proud of yourself. It's a GREAT day to be quit, and it's a GREAT day to stick close by this site for all the awesome advice you're getting, Tony. I am the poster child of what not to do when you quit at this time of year. I didn't plan, I didn't have a site like this, I didn't have a clue. I was pissed off that my husband could smoke and I couldn't. I was sad that my children weren't coming (they both live far, far away). I felt horribly sorry for myself and took it out on everyone who came close to me. If I had to do it over, I would do just what all your friends here have said...stay active when I felt up to it and chill when I needed to. So stay close, let us help you, when you get that panicky feeling, holler out for help. We can help you! Tony, The best way to avoid a slip is to stay clear of others who smoke. However, it is the holiday season and there will be many social outings. If you feel a craving coming on then just call it a night. Or, pull yourself away and go and hang out with others who do not smoke. You will find that you will meet many different people as an ex-smoker. Use this weekend as a test for weekends to come. Please keep us posted over the weekend, or just pop in Monday to tell us that "you made it through the weekend"! Cheers and good luck, Melanie ______________________________ The SSC Support Team
