Like Windy said, you need an outlet for the anxiety. I, too, spent a lot of time in the gym (still am doing that). IT IS TOUGH! I remember times just sitting at my desk watching the quit meter. I always find I need to play a head game with myself. Some visualization or something to get me through. The worst thing you can do is sit around and "wish" you could smoke. That makes things so hard. You need to have a picture in your mind that you are not going to smoke, no matter what, and you are with the rest of us. We are in this together. You also have to believe (and it is true) that things will get better. Not that far up the road, you won't be nearly so miserable. It is tough, as you know. But it will get better. Hang in there Super! I understand the inability to concentrate! I got several books to read instead of smoke in the beginning of my quit. WRONG! Couldn't concentrate enough to make it through a page! Reading is definitely out! I've been using my sons Gameboy and playing mindless games. Time really passes quickly. The only problem is when he wants his game back and mommy gets kind of snippy about it! Sad but true. LOL Hang in there, use that extra ounce of energy to push on through these next few days! Breath deep, post, read posts here (I didn't have any trouble concentrating on reading here, LOL) and ask for a hand when you need it. We're all here for you as well as ourselves! Be Strong!!!! You can do this! I'll get Cyber for you - he gives the best slaps...just ask Gonna! The bad news is that the first week IS all about survival. I went to the gym every single day to help burn off that excess anxiety. I usually caved by 7 at night and survived entirely through the use of my comforter and my remote control. (Bedroom was a non-smoking room) Do whatever you have to do - take walks, have naps, chew gum, drink water, post, post again...........it does get better! Be good to yourself, cut yourself lots of slack - the time to offer support will come later. Keep it up - you can do it! Hey Super - I agree, don't do anything that requires intellect in the first week .... I bet i could rhyme of every inane show there was between 7 and 11 p.m. for the first three weeks of my quit. I watched dancers, models, singers (those shows with a plot were just too confusing). Breathe in ....breathe out! You can do it! How are you doing today, Super? That first week can be a rough one. Even now I can't concentrate properly. Do what you have to. TV in the evenings, bed early, walks. It does get better. Just hang in there. Keep posting right here!!!! Hope you got through yesterday ok in the end, Super. Just wanting to send you loads of positivity for day 2. The suffering you may be going through right now is worth it - I promise. You'll have to do a bit of work, as you have gathered, at the beginning; practising your resolve, keeping your cool when you feel crazy, distracting yourself from thinking about smoking... But it is all really worth it. A bit of patience, please! ;) Now, on you go! OH! I wish I had been on sooner... Super, you are doing, well, super...keep it up. It's not easy, but it IS doable. Cyberduke needs to be here to slap you silly! Every once in awhile you have to get low-down mean with yourself. Bite something. Punch something (inanimate, please). Scream at the top of your lungs. Cry yourself to sleep. Any, and all of these things are refreshingly (and surprisingly) rejuvenating---and I HAVE done it all! YOU CAN DO IT and we have faith in you!
