Penquin, You keep fighting that addict and you are going to win this battle. Each time the junkie knocks you down, get back up. Refuse to be beaten. Use that self-loathing and self disgust as your strength to move forward. Take those emotions, get ticked off and don't be conned any more. Do not be a slave any longer. Reclaim your wealth, health, courage, confidence and self worth. Each time you get up from being knocked down tell yourself how much your life is worth winning this fight. Get up Penquin. Get up and fly! Penguin, I haven't followed your quit in detail and was surprised to see that you lost it and now are back on it. I'm glad that you found my post about confidence to be of value to you. Quitting is one thing, while staying quit is a whole other game! Confidence is a big part of staying quit. Be confident that you made the right decision. Be confident that you are succeeding, one day at a time. Be confident that you know your triggers and will avoid them. Be confident in your knowledge of the truth about smoking. Be happy that you found this place. :) Continued best wishes. Be Strong. Be Smart. Penguin, Reading about your desire to fly started a favorite song of mine "flying" in my head... Lenny Kravitz.. Title: Fly Away I wish that I could fly Into the sky So very high Just like a dragonfly I'd fly above the trees Over the seas in all degrees To anywhere I please Oh I want to get away I want to fly away Yeah yeah yeah Fly on and enjoy the beautiful view that those who have taken flight before you now see and appreciate. Oh, but be careful where you land.. my dogs love to "entertain" anything that gets in my yard.. ;p Best wishes. Be Strong. Be Smart. Hi, Penquin. Congratulations on your 9th smoke-free day. I joined a gym about a month after I'd quit and it was one of the best ideas I've ever had. Right up there with the quit itself. And cheaper than smoking, too. Go figure. ;) If you are very out of shape, then you may want to check with your doctor before starting an exercise program. In any case, start off slow on the treadmill. You don't need to be running right off the bat. There is plenty of exercise in a brisk walk. Just remember to keep making it a good experience. Many gyms nowdays have TVs set up for folks on the treadmills, elliptical, and stationary bikes to watch. Some have headphone plugins and some require a small FM radio to listen. An MP3 player is very nice, too. You are in control everyday, Penguin. Stay strong. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 561 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,226 Amount Saved: $2131.8 Life Gained: Days: 104 Hrs: 15 Mins: 30 Seconds: 9

Yesterday, day 1 Nic free was smooth sailing. Today - different story. I felt terrible. Light headed, nauseated, coughing, sore throat, stuffed up. I was having monster craves unlike any I have had so far in my quit. I went to bed 3 times, curled in a ball, slept some, and still felt bad. It wasn't until I realized that maybe Ol'Nic had sneaked in the back door and was taking advantage of the fact that I had a virus or a reaction to an immunization I had yesterday, that I said "BACK OFF BOOGALOO....THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU..." You know what....The crave is gone. He is so sneaky. I said outloud "You are giving these thoughts too much attention!!!!" Glad that is over. Kind of feel like I've been hit by a mack truck though. Tomorrow will be better. ALRIGHT....my own cleaning woman! Imall - you decided to substitute with dusting after all? After climbing out of the pit 5 days ago, I feel like I am on top of the world. The mind is clear, the bod feels good, and I know I am gonna make it. Feels soooooooo awesome. During my last couple of days in the pit, I came to the conclusion that I could let go....that I didn't have to focus so hard on not smoking. Why? Because I wasn't smoking and I knew then that I wasn't going to smoke. I didn't have to be afraid of that monster crave that might come and gobble me up and strangle me, because I just wasn't going to give in. That realization made it easy to scramble over the edge and climb up on top. What is amazing to me is how good I feel this week (in comparison to last week). What is also awesome is how quickly the triggers are diminishing. They are extremely delayed as well. I'll be making dinner and 15 minutes into it I realize that I didn't automatically have 'THE THOUGHT'. I'll actually drive to the end of the street (2kms) before I have 'THE THOUGHT'. It's cool, and I'm likin it. It will be a long while yet before they disappear, but just knowing I'm getting there is confidence building. Another test flight will be coming soon, but I have a few more appointments with the chiropracter first. Next time someone comes to visit, can they bring food...I'm losing weight.....pleeeaaassseeee. Thought my friend had been here dusting, but I see she hasn't. Kind of neglected the place the last month. I've been so busy....living life while not smoking....for 2 months now. While I'm happy not to be smoking, I am even happier that I have done it while dealing with some stressful issues: I had a friend enter rehab, I continue to be off work with an injury, I am now a student (started a course), I work out every day, and my hubby has continued to smoke. I have remained calm and at peace throughout. Just the way I wanted to be. All that practicing I did has paid off, and I remain confident that I will not smoke. The number of thoughts I have daily become fewer and fewer, and their intensity is almost nil. And today.... I am nekkid!!!!!!! (No more patches for this bird) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 64 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,292 Amount Saved: $736 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 11 Mins: 5 Seconds: 48

Ok, so HO, HUM as in, I really don't have the energy to get excited about anything right now. Whats wrong....? 30 day pit...maybe? depression...yes and no (some hours are good and I laugh, some hours I feel nothing) Not working and feeling useless....could be. Dear friend in crisis....add that in. Tired of fighting....I'm not fighting. I have no intention of smoking...don't desire it. I may be tired of the constant annoying buzz in my head, although the nag is not as bad as last week. I will not rant and rave at the Nicodemon - he doesn't deserve any of the little energy I have. I am tucked in with the little guy, cuddling - what could be better. One step at a time - Yup - I think tomorrow will be better. I've said that every night for the last 10 days. I'm just doing what I have to do. One month sounds better to me. Thanks for keeping an eye on me. I'm not going anywhere. Staying right here in the Rookery.
