Jan, That's great! Sometimes focusing on the short-term helps. Gonna, Try shifting your focus to what is going right and your life and let it reinforce the fact you are doing well at that moment. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Jan, hang tight. This about the time I lost my quit. Believe me going out is not the answer. I can not begin to tell you; it is pure hell. Facing life smoke free and dealing with the stress is so much easier. Nothing is nothing in the world worth lossing your quit. I will be back on board soon.

Hi Jan, take it easy on yourself, it may be really hard to relax (trust me I been there) it does improve. I am a total control freak, so I always like to think that I have things right where I want them. When you quit, that's all over with, you kinda have to ride the waves, ease into things and stay positive. Easy and breezy I think our friend Penitent mentioned earlier. :) Keep breathing deeply during any stress and tell yourself how great it is to take those deep breaths. How great it is to be doing the activity of your choice and it does not include smoking. One moment at a time and then the next, and so it goes, then time starts to go by - and then - UHM, we don't want to get too far ahead. You're doing great TODAY! I just used to tell myself every night, it's great to go to sleep a WINNER. I still do sometimes :) I loved kicking ole Nic! Hi Jan58 - Great post! One thing that has really supported my first and last Quit is staying in the moment... There's a great deal of power being present just where we are...rather than making up what can happen. Good for you ~ 9 days is looking great on you! lol, gonna. I sometimes have to just say to myself..."just stop it." The trick is to notice that you're doing "it", whatever "it" is...negative thinking, worrying, fantasizing about smacking someone. This week I've had a particularly whiny time, and I've had to tell myself to stop it on several occasions. It's hard to keep me under control sometimes! :p Rusty :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/13/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 646 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 18,113 Amount Saved: $2261 Life Gained: Days: 88 Hrs: 23 Mins: 38 Seconds: 42
