Congratulations! One day at a time. Do it again tomorrow. As long as you don't light that next cigarette (or buy it) you will be just fine! ((((((((((S))))))))))) The depression, IMO, is the worst part of the whole quit process. It can be so constant, so "chipping away" at our resolve. The strength you are showing your daughters is commendable. Coming here to vent/dump/cry is the right thing to do. That's what we're here for. I understand your feelings of "lost my fags". We've all felt that way before. That feeling, coupled with the depression, are Ol' Nic's worst weapons against our quits. You just have to remember that you have lost nothing good, but have parted company with an evil that had no more intention than to kill you. Of all your changes, regardless of what they may be, this one is by far the greatest. Oh, and your daughter that's going away to school? She's no further than a phone call or an e-mail. She can still be with you, even though you can't actually touch her. Congratulations on 12 smoke-free days, S. You really are doing great! :) Keep up the good quit! You certainly have allot on your mind, but aren't you glad you dont have to deal with smoking on top of all that!! YOu are doing great and smoking won't help any of that. Try to think on the positve side, make a list if you can, I am sure there are many. I used vitamin D on my Dr's suggestion to help deal with the depression, and it really does work. Above all dont smoke, it wont help, in fact it will only make you feel worse. It is worth it!! Serenity, You are doing fantatically well. All those life changes are bound to make you emotional, never mind the quit. There is one thing I want you to remember though : there is no such thing as one cigarette. There is an incredible relapse rate (about 90%) triggered from just 1....and it's not an immediate thing. What happens is you have 'one' and then quit immediately again. But then a few days later, you think, well I quit again last time after 'just one' so obviously I'm on top of things now. That's what we all thought when we first started smoking.....and look where it led us. Don't worry about having 'junkie thoughts'....you will get them. Everyone gets them. This battle is all about learning to silence the 'inner voice'. Keep putting one foot in front of the other....and you will get there. Cheers!
