You're on the right track and have come up with some pretty great ideas on how to manage your irritabilities. A big part of this will be trial and error. You just have to keep trying to find distractions/rewards/alternatives that work best for you. Your learning new ways to cope with life's little annoyances. It's not that you're not a nice person. You're learning a new skill, a new way to be and that can certainly be frustrating and make you feel vulnerable. Hang in there. You're doing great and we are proud of you! Hi Deli - Never worry about what you share here - we're here to listen and to support you, friend... Gentle down the energy around yourself, Deli... This is a tough time for you - be kind and loving with yourself and take some time to ground yourself - to just BE. I found that there were times during my Quit process that I just needed to take away from the world - to just get off the world. Ya know - time just for ME - whether it was to meditate, take a warm bubble bath, read a good book, get lost in a TV program for a laugh, or just to take a walk. Focus on what's important - who's important to you, and give yourself the time and space to ((feel)) the feelings that come up. Smoking kept a constant smoking screen around us. Feelings were lost in the smoke screen - emotions were 'softened' by the same smoke screen. Take the time to nurture yourself, dear one. And about rewards ~ they are sooooo important in the Quit process, Deli. Do a search here for 'rewards' and read about how important they are - how needed they are... Rewards can be the softest, most gentle pillow we see on sale at a department store (one of my BEST rewards!) and a reward may be a new CD of soft, soothing music, to take you to sleep. A reward may be time with a friend when you are usually busy with other things ~ or it may be buying a sweet candle for bathtime, friend. Most important ~ wrap your compassion around YOU like a soft, loving pink blanket of love, friend. Taking care of ourselves is so very important during our Quit process... and it makes the journey softer, calmer and much smoother...
