Amethyst_isis, Glad to hear your doing better and consulted with your pharmacist. Hopefully you'll get some rest soon. Keep persevering, Danielle ___________________________ The SSC Support Team

Amethyst_isis, I can only echo what your fellow quitters have told you: it's normal. Keep in mind your fighting an addiction that is both physical and psychological, your dreams are a reflection of that conflict. Keep spoiling and caring for yourself, you're doing great! Almost through hell week, start planning your reward! Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Yeah, I have had a few of those. They are SO real it is so scary. I always wake up and thank God that it was only a dream, better yet, a nightmare!!!!!!! Vidid (and scary) dreams of smoking are common when you quit. I also had that revolting "ashtray" taste in my mouth the first 3 to 4 months. I heard or read somewhere that as your lungs heal and deal with the tar and other lovely deposits you get that old cig taste and smell. That may trigger the dreams. Right or wrong, I liked that idea because it means healing is going on. Even though I never smoked in the house, much less in bed, I finally had to get new pillows to get rid of any trace of old smoke smell. Hang in there because it all gets much better. Krissie, A lot of people speak of the smoking dreams. I have only had a couple and I'm really glad because they were very "real" and I hear others talking about how real they are all the time. Drink some ice water to get that nasty taste out of your mouth. I hate that taste and know exactly what you are talking about. Ice water and peppermint always worked for me. Take some really deep breaths. Eventually your body will adjust to not smoking and you will return to some sense of normal. Hang in there. Just don't smoke no matter what! Congratulations on 5 awesome days! You are doing great. Totally normal. And, if you are using the patch, then they will be even more vivid. If you are using the patch, try taking it off at night so you can actually sleep through the night.
