Thank you, Caddie! You are soooo sweet! I'm still around, reading on ocassion, but have not really had the time to check in as much lately. Thank you all for your concern and prayers. I'm doing much better and all the kids are still alive! :eg: My husband and I are still with the quit :) I am most vulnerable during times of stress, it seems. Again, thanks!

Still here. A bit calmer today. My oldest son has been released from the hospital today. His surgery went well and we are hoping he will continue to do well. The oldest daughter is still accomplishing sooooooo much. The 16 year old is terrified about about what happens on Tuesday...... The 19 year old daughter, that has been in constant turmoil for the last four years..who knows..? And the youngest accompanied us to church today and then to a swim party at one of the other members' houses, is, as always, doing well..but I can't help but think the stress affects her as well! Life goes on...besides, killing is a sin and illegal! :) Peace to all! Thank you Casey for your assitance. I will keep with the quit... Marie: You have always been such a support. My body DOES need this quit, and my 10 year old would be devastated if I smoked again. Rusty: These are tough ages and tough issues! Once you are over 18 it is not illegal to run away from home. Therefore, I have decided that I will be the next to run away!!! Ericon: I am trying to set a good example. I never drank before at all. Here recently I have been joining my husband in the evening for a drink. Not anymore...this place is alcohol free. I quit smoking and hoped that would be a good example. The older three smoke, the 16 year old dips and the 10 year old has endured second hand smoke from EVERYONE for her entire life. My husband and I both quit together. We have NEVER used drugs (we're cops--wellllllll...I did have some pretty wild college years :8|: ) But we go to church and try to set a good example. The older four's father was an alcoholic and his mother was bi-polar, his father also an alcoholic. Environment vs genetics.....what an argument!!! Mistymoon: I LOVE YOU!!! You did make me feel better. My husband also has been playing demolition derby with our cars---two collisions with deer in the last month!!! I also have 5 kids. We have so much in common! BTW, when CPS gets done at your house, can you send them to mine? However, I want them to take custody of my adult children...do you think we can arrange that? Otherwise, I will have to take advantage of the concrete cinderblocks/rope/nearby river..... :eg:

I have not been on here lately, however, if I have a few minutes I have come in and read. A lot of new people, I see. Welcome! I am very afraid of back-sliding recently. I want this quit more than anything, but I have had a lot of stress over the last week or so. I have established a "Why bother quitting...my kids are trying to kill me anyways..." attitude. My youngest son, 16, was picked up and charged with consuming under 21. He was drunk. I came home, threw out any alcohol in the house. I am worried what will happen to him. He is already on probation in court for--get this--fishing without a license. I have been pretty hard on him about that and because I know he is using smokeless tobacco. He really isn't doing anything the rest of us didn't do at that age---I just never got caught  My bi-polar 19 year old does not live at home because she doesn't like the rules--take your meds in order to live here. She announces she is pregnant. The father is her ex who liked to use her as a punching bag. She has decided she wants this baby. It will solve all of her problems, you know!? My 21 year old son has been in the hospital and just had surgery yesterday. A severe staph infection in his leg. He will have missed several weeks of work. A car payment is due... :( The oldest, 25, is 4 hours away, working, and doing very well in drug treatment. :gasp: The 10 year old baby started 5th grade this past week. She is so very proud of her mommy and daddy for quitting :) I'm quit; but I sure as hell ain't happy. Somebody isn't going survive all of this, and I am afraid I am the target! I am the familial "bad guy" because I don't sweep problems under the rug; every other adult in these kids' lives stick their head in the sand and pretends it isn't happening. Let's not talk about it and maybe it will go away... I have whined enough. I have just enough time for a good cry and a shower before I head back to the hospital! Gonnadoit, That's the spirit! The important thing is that you learn from this experience and keep going. Take some time to look back on previous attempts, pull out the strategies that worked and pinpoint the weaknesses. Improve those weaknesses and reward yourself for all your efforts. Keep us posted on your progress. Danielle ____________________________ The SSC Support Team
