Cold Turkey

for 18 år siden 0 41 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
How're you doing today, Saavy? Day 2 turned out to be pure hell for me. Day 3 is looking better - more of the same, but not as intense. Going to keep myself busy today, even if hubby want to be a couch-slug again today. Hey - good move! As far as I'm concerned, cold turkey is the only way to go. I can't use NRT anyway - high blood pressure - and when I tried using it the last time, I unwittingly got myself into a nic overdose situation. It really only takes a few days to get the worst of the physical symptoms over with. Then, you can re-program the rest of yourself to not even look for the nicotine rush. I'm right there with ya; this is my second smoke-free day. Well little update from me. I went cold turkey yesterday at lunchtime. Have now thrown away the patches. Went on a shopping expedition yesterday for fruit juice...... to keep the blood sugar as high as posssible and minimise craving to eat. Have been doing ton's of reading on the cold turkey approach and have decided to 'bit the bullet' as they say. I just want to get this nicotine thing out of the way. This morning I can really feel the difference without any nicotine going into my system. World looks a whole lot brighter really. With the patches I just felt locked into the same old routine of going after that 'nicotine normal' feeling. I went cold turkey in 1985 for 5 days and can remember having an insane amount of energy. Before that I can't remember the last time I did not have nicotine in my body.............perhaps 15 years old and I'm now 52. I can feel that energy returning though...... The rest of the good news is my partner is coming along for this ride as well.......she took the patch off yesterday as well. Were like the two Muskateers now............all for one and one for all. Thanks Josie, Livadia, Free and Marie....:) Great pic Free I take it that is not you or is it???? Ok I'm not gonna say this cold turkey business is EASY.........far from it. Its just amazing feeling the nicotine basically just draining away. The urge to replace it is so flamin strong sometimes...... But there is no way...NEVER......you say Marie one day at a time.....:) ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 16 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 323 Amount Saved: $128 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 11 Seconds: 0

Marie.......I'd smile if I could think of a single flamin funny thing....funny thoughts are not coming easy at the moment. Anyone got any jokes...........PLEASEEEEEEE POST HERE. I have just 4 hours to go until I reach the 72 hour mark without ANY nicotine in my system. To put it mildly yesterday was not easy, not easy at all. I won't bother with whining because its not going to make this baby any better. I could sit here and list a whole bunch of things which are just a total 'pain in the'... at the moment but where will that get me? Nowhere....that's where....so I won't bother. Tanxs to all of you for hangin around and offering your support and encouragement and WISDOM.....you are a very wise bunch....:) I'm making it.....:) I'm getting there...SLOWLY...:) I can feel the relief at the end of the withdrawal tunnel......:) I am realising not only a smoke free life but a nicotine free one...........EVEN BETTER. Savvvy, I feel for you, really, I know, you're not only withdrawing from nicotine but also 4000 chemicals. Please believe me, it does get better, when I was feeling the way you are right now, I would just sleep it off. Hope you have a good night :gasp:Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 107 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,619 Amount Saved: $428 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 5 Mins: 45 Seconds: 55
