Kim,
Congratulations on quitting and welcome to the SSC.
In another thread CobenFan mentioned that I sign all of my posts with "Illegitimus non carborundum est". Google that phrase. ;p You will find that "never smokers", like your "friend", have no earthly clue as to what it takes to break the nicotine addiction. None. Zero. Zip. It's like a man trying to explain to another man what it's like to give birth.
Your quit is your own. Your husbands quit is his. Ideally, the two of you can work in concert to help support each other and successfully quit. Each knows the others strong and weak points and can offer advice and help. That is what support is all about.
7 days is a great start on your quits, but you are far, far away from being "quit", if you know what I mean. Quitting is a process.. a journey that can takes months, even years. As long as you don't smoke you are winning the battle. Win it one day at a time. For now, avoid all smoking situations or situations that you previously associated with smoking. Learn how to deal with life head on. It's doable!
Here is a quote that I plaster all over this site... I hope you enjoy it..
[b]"May we never let the things we can't have, or don't have, or shouldn't have, spoil our enjoyment of the things we do have and can have. As we value our happiness, let us not forget it, for one of the greatest lessons in life is learning to be happy without the things we cannot or should not have."
