Gudday ex-slave. Yes, the early days of the quit are consumed with thoughts of smoking & cigarettes.. both awake & sometimes in sleep. You need to realise that as smokers we also had these all consuming thoughts for cigarettes ! I was always worried how i would get my next fix & my day would always be organise to suit this. The fog will lift & the sensations will all soon dissapear, you will see the light so to speak, 'gonnadoit' sums it up nicely - "humans are funny creatures" ! Every morning, waking up, thinking of smoking within---oh---5 minutes! That gnawing, the wanting. Gosh dangit all to *^%#! It is upsetting how my mind still goes back to that pattern. Of course, we occupy our minds with something else for a while, then, BAM; there it is again; the wanting. I have not experienced a day yet where I did not think about smoking at least 5 times. I know, I need to settle down mentally and take it as it comes. The heat in the sw is disappearing now, so maybe I will walk in the mornings. That will help with the 20 POUNDS that I have gained. MAMA NEVER TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO BE LIKE THIS! HA! thanks everyone, I am just venting. I flipping HATE this monkey on my back. All of you, great advice...a good reality check for me. I just have to have the thoughts and move on without smoking. I am so thankful that there are people here who can tell me that it will not always be my first thought in the mornings. You know, because you are living it. Hi gonnadoit, I may not exactly be Romping right now; more like dragging my ass down the road! I know we can do this. Some days my attitude is better than others. Some days I feel better than others. thanks Phil, Yea, I was over 100 days when I took another puff..so, I reset my meter. I know how those cravings can sneak up on you. All I can do now is be on guard. I am going to do my best to be prepared for anything life or the nicodevil has to throw my way..and handle it all without nicotine! 68 days is awesome..keep on keeping on; smoke free--yipee!! Hi Free, Yes, at 100+ days I did still think about smoking every morning???? I had been off of NRT lozenges for about 2 months at that time. I will make it. Sometimes I just get exhausted. I have been to the beach and back twice. I am using about 4 of the 2mg nicotine lozenges a day again. I plan on giving those up in the next few days (when I run out). I can't regret the past, but if I had stayed clean, I would probably be free right now. Oh well, the day will come. thank you Katy and Kiwi, that is exactly what I needed to hear. I soooo do need to be done with this part of my life. My lungs can't take smoking anymore, my emotions can't take it, my hair can't take it, my teeth, my toenails, my brain, my skin; etc, etc, etc.! Hey gonnadoit, now, is a catfish, a catfish, a catfish; or is there a special species that we have to lick???? Hi, Ex-slave. Mornings can be a challenge because the first thing we used to do was light up, often before we were fully awake. There's a lot of subconcious control going on there that makes it even more difficult. Remember, just because you think of smoking does not mean you have to smoke. You're going to be thinking of smoking for a while yet, so you need to resign yourself to getting through it smoke-free. This is one of those things that you don't like to do, but it absolutely must be done, so you just do it and get it over with. It won't be quick, and it won't be any easier than you let it be, but you can do it if you just set you mind to it. Congtatulations on 3 smoke-free days, Ex-slave! :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 488 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,773 Amount Saved: $1854.4 Life Gained: Days: 91 Hrs: 2 Mins: 28 Seconds: 59

I really think that feeling will pass soon. The first one when I woke up was always my favorite...now 2 weeks into my quit, I can say that really isn't even a thought in my mind....now I just need my coffee and I am good. It gets better just take it one day at a time.
