Great thread, Rob. Shedding our various skins is irritating, but like with any irritant we toughen up in response. And we grow with each shedding, too. I think that is one of the best parts of this entire process. Luck has nothing to do with quitting, Rob. I wish you strength and patience. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 403 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,072 Amount Saved: $1531.4 Life Gained: Days: 75 Hrs: 5 Mins: 47 Seconds: 25

Great post Rob and I can tell you for sure that you will heal and grow with the changing of every season. I am starting my second go around, I started in Winter and have completed the cycle, I am enjoying the second cycle without any thought of smoking and really starting to feel great. Hope your climb up the mountain gets easier with each step forward you take. So true. As I was reading, I was really feeling and visualizing the thought of new and tender skin, especially in the summer. In Florida, we all know that summer brings with it the need to protect ourselves -- sunblock, hats, shade, lots of water, stay out of the sun certain times of day. The same is true as we go through this shedding process. We learn to protect ourselves emotionally and physically -- reduce our stress, avoid tricky situations, remember our power, focus on our positive energies. And as Phillip said, stick to it and be patient! Rob, I like the skin analogy because it is so true. With each season it gets a little easier though especially because you know that you made it through the one that just passed. There are a lot of good and unexpected things that come with the new skin too. I'm finding that I spend less time being afraid. As a smoker so many of my actions were based just on habit and ruts and rather fearful of things that I didn't know or felt I couldn't control. I am free of SO many of those ruts now and I recognize when a new one is starting. I know the spring craves were rough and I pray the summer craves will treat you better. Think about how much better watermelon, lemonade, iced tea, and ICE CREAM will taste. The smell of fresh cut grass and the smell of dusk in the humidity. Remind yourself of the good and priceless gifts that the relearning brings too. Next year at this time you will be more alive than you ever dreamed possible. The struggle doesn't last forever :8|: 131 Days - can you believe it?
