Ex-slave, Unfortunately, all too often, that's what happens when we have "just one." It leads to "just one more" and then "just one pack" and then "just one carton" and you get the idea. That's why N.O.P.E. is so important. I totally understand where you are coming from... with each of my slips, I too thought that I would never smoke again, and then I blew it over and over again. Yes, it's very disheartening. It took a long time for me to finally trust myself. That doesn't happen overnight. But N.O.P.E. really is key. There's NO such thing as "just one" or even "just today." You did an awesome job for over 100 days! You CAN stay quit! We all know that! You have it in you because you did it for over 100 days! That's over 3 months without one single cigarette! If you can do that, then you can beat this thing!
Gosh, am I going to struggle with this dang thing my whole flipping life???
The answer is "no." But it might seem like it. To be honest, it wasn't until after about 6 months of this quit that I started thinking that I have more good days than bad days... I'm sure it was looooong before that that I actually HAD more good days than bad days, but I don't think I noticed it until then. Now, there are very few bad days... and you KNOW how much I struggled with my quit! So I know that comfort is waiting for you! Grab on to the quit and don't let go! We'll all be here on Wednesday to support you. Crave the Quit! Ex-slave, You know that it's not OK to smoke... even when things are hard. Life happens whether we smoke or not. A few months ago, right around the day when I would have celebrated 1 year quit, I dislocated my shoulder, lost my job because of it, got into a car accident and my aunt died... all within 4 days! If I'd wanted an excuse to smoke, that would most certainly have been the time to do it, and there were times when I thought that a smoke might just be the perfect thing for me right then. But I know that one puff equals many, many, many more puffs and so do you. That's why this is so dangerous. You made it through your camera being stolen... you made it through your trips with your smoking ex... you made it through so much! You CAN do this! But you've got to be careful, otherwise the next time things get hard, you'll start thinking "well, I smoked last time and nothing bad happened... I got right back to my quit, so I can smoke this time." And then the cycle begins. You've GOT to make smoking not an option anymore! I'm sorry that your life blew up like that. That really sucks! But let's get back to the quit and try hard to keep this from happening again, OK? Crave the Quit! Hi Ex-slave I was one who smoked first thing in the a.m. and I thought about it as soon as I opened my eyes ,for a long time, so I put a bottle of water on my bed table and first thing when I wake up I drink half of it, it's gotten so easy to do , now I can't do without it need my water, we are creatures of habit aren't we? well better water than a cig. It happens once in a while that I wake up and think no smoking today but it's just a fact now, doesn't bother me at all, so on with the quit it will happen to you also, one day you'll wake up and not think about it at all. :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 105 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,584 Amount Saved: $420 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 22 Mins: 25 Seconds: 23

Ex-slave I'm so sorry for all that you went through, as a mom I read your post and felt for you, it's hard to see your baby leave, but that's life ,we have to let them fly on their own. You are a strong and honest person to admit to this after such a long time, you must be devastated enough, you don't need our preaching for sure. So get back to it and on with the quit one day at a time :)Marie My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 93 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,401 Amount Saved: $372 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 7 Mins: 41 Seconds: 44

{{{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} At least your back here and determined not to become a smoker (again). Sometimes bad things happen to good people AND sometimes good things happen to bad people. Life isn't always fair. I'm just glad you woke yourself up before you got back up to a pack a day! Take care and you will be included in my prayers!
