My smoking friends....

for 18 år siden 0 99 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I just wanted to add that I myself, when I would smoke, I would NEVER smoke in the presence of a non-smoker in an enclosed area. But in this particular situation they were all smokers and now she's asking them to change. Had she never been a smoker then maybe she would not have ever been included in that group of friends that stay in the same hotel room and drive in the same car. I'm just talking about this particular situation. Not about the world.

gonnadoit. I agree with cigarettes causing cancer and second hand smoke, etc, etc. But if she doesn't want to be around that then she shouldn't put herself in that enviroment. I don't think she should asks her friends not to smoke in the hotel room or car if that's what they've all been use to for the longest time. In that case she shouldn't go.

I have quit smoking in the past for about 3 months and I personally think you're asking for too much. I understand that you chose to quit smoking..but they didn't. I just always thought that asking people not to smoke is rather inconsiderate. I'm not trying to be mean to you at all. It comes off like that because i'm typing this on a forum :) If you can't handle them smoking then you should stay home, it's not fair to ask them to alter thier lifestyle fot you about a choice you made. I hope that makes sense. anyway...I quit yesterday and I would never ask anyone not to smoke in front of me. I would ask them not to smoke in MY house or in MY car but that's as far as that would go. Just try to think about how you would feel if someone asked that of you when you were a rock hard smoker.

Looking back at old posts...you know there was always a part of me that didn't want my friends to quit either. That awful junkie thinking. I don't know if you will get this message but I was so impressed with how you handled the whole situation. I hope you have an amazing weekend at the spa with your sister...You sure do deserve it! Applause for hannaher!! Was just thinking that my old roommate quit several years ago. When we became roommates, we were both smokers. After she quit, I continued to smoke in the house. Now, we are still good friends but we have different homes (no fights - we just have jobs in different cities and new men in our lives). When I was at her home, I smoked outside. When she came to my home, I smoked inside (but usually close to the door). I doubt this helps you any...you just made me remember this. Hi Hanna I feel for you. We who are one our quitting journey know that it is impossible to ask people to quit. However, I am expected to smoke outside at almost all of my friend's homes. Usually my friends/family book non-smoking rooms so I guess I've more often been the odd man out as a smoker. Unfortunately, majority usually rules and you are out-voted 3-1. I admire you so much for quitting when others aren't on board. I have no helpful advice. I agree - my feelings would be hurt too (but then again, my feelings were hurt when my family/friends have not accomodated my smoking needs) I am pretty early in my quit so I know I wouldn't be ready for that...but hopefully the day will come where I could sit in a room of smokers and not crave (not counting on this anytime soon) I know, for now, I need to avoid situations where alot of smoking is involved. The decision is yours and you will know what is best for you. Just remember that you have our support no matter what you decide. Three friends and I have a tradition of going away for the weekend in the fall shopping. We usually go in late october or november and have a really great time. We began planning our annual trip yesterday. All of us usually drive together and share a hotel room. I mentioned to the girls (who all smoke) that this year it would make it a lot easier on me if they would agree to smoke outside the car and on the balcony of the hotel room. I explained that three days of constant cigarette smoke would be really hard for me to deal with. They said they wont have as much fun if they cant smoke in the car and the hotel room and suggested I stay home or plan a trip with non-smokers. They said its my choice not to smoke and I shouldnt try to impose my will on them. I have seriously hurt feelings right now. Its not like I asked them not to smoke at all - just not three of them, all at once, in an enclosed space. I mean really...
