My Body Hates Me

Jdtigg, Ok, the toxins may have left your body but you're forgetting something. How long have you smoked? A few years? All that damage has yet to be repaired. Your brain has yet to comprehend how to function without nicotine. Be patient. It will pass but it will take a little longer. A few key things to remember: reward yourself for accomplishments, replace the old habit with a new one, avoid triggers and have distractions at the ready. Keep persevering! Hey JDTIGG - Yep, your body may be rejecting this whole quitting smoking thing -- but too bad. You're doing great and your body will thank you for this later on. Be tough, be strong, you're doing this! Oh and don't worry about all the STINKERS out for their smoke break - take your own sweet smelling walk. I refuse to NOT take breaks because I don't smoke, I just take a walk instead. It takes time to feel better, but it's worth the wait. Drink lots of water and you will feel better soon. Hi, Jdtigg. Congratulations on 6 smoke-free days. That is fantastic! :) The nicotine is out of your system in 72 hours, but cigarettes have over 4000 chemicals in them. Who knows how long it takes for some of them to clear out? Even if they are all gone, though, they were there for years and your body got used to them. Now they are gone and your body has to readjust. That will take time. During that time, just think of all these feelings as signs of healing, because that is what they are. No matter how bad they make you feel, they are ultimately good. Usually, the best medicine tastes the worst. Keep up the good quit, Jdtigg. The latter choice is definitely the best. Jdtigg - Hang in there. It'll get better. Take it one minute at a time if you need to but don't give in. You can hang in there it wont kill you. Remember that cigarettes have been highly engineered by tobacco companies to make sure you don't stop using them. They freebase the nicotine so it's delivered to your brain in less than 7 seconds and they make sure you can't stop without a fight. Don't let some faceless corporate chemist somewhere get the best of you. Hang tough. Beat them at their own game. It feels really good to win. Stay with us.....
