Hi, Babs. With all the negative in your life hammering on you, it's really hard to even see any positive, let alone focus on it. But that's what you've got to do, Babs. Find a postive and hang on to it. That positive is your strength and committment to your quit. It may not be apparent to you, but to everyone here it is glaringly obvious. You've held on to your quit for 35 days in the face of enormous adversity. There are many here who would have bailed long ago if they had to put up with what you have. Here's another positive that has come from all that. You are a true inspiration to others, myself included. Thank you for that, Babs. Please don't let the smokers at the campground get to you. They are small, petty little addicts who have no control over themselves. You have risen above them by taking control of the very addiction that makes them do what they do. There is yet another positive for your focus. Have you ever read Jonathon Livingston Seagull? If you haven't, you should. You are Jonathon, they are the rest of the flock. Re-read what everyone here has posted, Babs. Especially Breaking Free's and Katy's posts. And continue to hang in there. Believe it or not, you really are doing fantastic. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 373 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,472 Amount Saved: $1417.4 Life Gained: Days: 69 Hrs: 15 Mins: 39 Seconds: 5

Babs, you've got a lot of people here worried about you, myself included. If you can post, please do. Let us know what's going on, regardless of what's going on. Even just a "Hi" would be nice. Please know that we are all here for you, regardless of the circumstances. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 381 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,638 Amount Saved: $1447.8 Life Gained: Days: 71 Hrs: 4 Mins: 43 Seconds: 19

Babs...you are fighting your quit. you are dwelling on the negative. it's true that we miss smoking and we have cravings...everything you say is true....but you must set your mind to thinking otherwise. quitting is a "choice"....free will, something you "want"....there are long lists of the benefits and freedoms that quitting brings. You need to make such a list. You need to think about what you are 'gaining' as opposed to what you are loosing? There is nothing good about smoking and every single reason to light up can be torn to shreds and realized as a lie or a lame excuse to feed the junky. we are addicts. period. the addict cares about one thing.....the fix. he gets inside your head and beats a drum...if you listen it will drive you crazy. YOU have to drive him OUT of your head. YOU have gotten in control...the junky is upset about that....you need to determine ways to keep him on the OUTside. He is a liar and a killer....refuse to listen to him. As long as YOU stay in control...you win. He plays this game that gets you mad and upset...when you are that way you are more likely to break over and give him what he wants. fight back wisely.....don't let him take over your thinking. Feelings of frustration and anger are his handiwork. He wants you to give in and let him have back the control. If you are gonna be pissed at anything....let it be HIM! Learn to hate him and turn your back on his tactics. attitude will take you a long way. practice thinking positive, practice injecting humor into this....it's there if you look. Some used to advise 'fake it till you make it'....and that can help at some points. Distract and delay.....learn to reward yourself at every turn......rewarding is about recognizing that YOU are fighting and you deserve special treatment for it. Be GOOD to yourself! and turn that frown upside down......this period of the quit will pass.....hang tough katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1608 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 64,322 Amount Saved: $8844 Life Gained: Days: 209 Hrs: 17 Mins: 55 Seconds: 17

babs, Hang in there and take some of the advice you have seen in this thread. Members have been where you are now and can help you through this journey. This is normal and will pass :) Have those coping mechanisms ready and you will fair well. Also do some relaxation techniques and ease yourself into sleep for a better day tomorrow! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
