Morning, Morningglory. Breaking Free is right. A lot of us went through a "rough" patch around this time. I did and like you, I posted my feelings and had lots of great people come to my aid. I'm glad I held on because those feelings only lasted about 3 days for me. I KNOW this will pass for you too. So hang on and hang in, you WILL get through this!!! Don't lose sight of how hard you have worked and all you have accomplished! I too know the feeling all too well. Just yesterday, Nick dropped by for an unexpected visit. Was he ever on his game! He had me convinced that just one cig is all I would need to get my anxiety under control, something I have had problems with since I quit. I then told him that I made a choice to stay true to myself. The health benefits gained from maintaining my quit are greater than any few minutes of bliss I might achieve from that one cig. I know that those few minutes of bliss will result in an eternity of guilt. I refuse to take the risk. All of us will forever be, one cig away from a pack a day.

A lot of us felt the way you do right now. I believe it is part of the process. Kick, scream, cry, break dishes, whatever it takes to get through it. Go back to bed and stay there if it helps (that's what I did). Just don't smoke. You are so close now to freedom. Don't give up on yourself now. You have come too far and worked too hard. You said you don't want to throw in the towel.... Then don't. You are doing great and you are perfectly normal. This will pass. I promise. Hi Morning There is a word in your post that I think you need to change. WITHOUT! Turn things around rather than wrapping yourself in deprivation. Do not think in terms of not having something. Try thinking in terms of what you have gained. One of the things that I found that helped is to turn it into a choice. I just said to myself, Yes, I want to smoke but I choose not to smoke. The reasons I choose not to smoke is_______. Fill in the blank with your compelling reasons to quit. Just know that you can do this. Morningglory....the saddness and lost feelings will end sooner if you practice turning your back on them and grabbing at the freedom that comes with quitting. Do you realize that YOU are in control now? You aren't answering the every whine and whim of the addiction. Let that feeling build pride and confidence in you. The longing to smoke will leave when you turn away and let it go. Don't let it take up residence in your mind. you are at a tender place in quitting.....the patch is a great aid and lets us wean off nicotine and work on our coping skills....but we miss nicotine for quit a while....we had let it be our friend and comforter. Practice replacing what used to be the reward of smoking with other rewards.....plan small ones for throughout the day and plan bigger ones for milestones. They will help keep you focused and looking ahead. hang tough....you are doing fine and this WILL finally pass katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1603 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 64,153 Amount Saved: $8816.5 Life Gained: Days: 209 Hrs: 4 Mins: 48 Seconds: 35

MORNING, You are not moaning! This is normal and will pass. Try not to wallow in it and take your mind off of it. If you need to get out your coping mechanism than do so. Whatever it takes keep the quit! Take some you time and pamper yourself for a job well done! Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
