So I guess the message here is that it doesn't matter how far into it you are. If you're addicted, you're addicted, no two ways about it. I really can only attribute my resolve in staying quit to my motivation then, not how long nic has had a grip on me. I know everyone's quit is unique. BUT, who here thinks that there is a direct corolation between the time spent smoking and how difficult your quit is. I'm 26 and have been smoking for about 7 to 8 years. Some of them light years, some of them heavy. Does anyone think that I might be having an easier time of it than others?

Neek, Congrats on your 3 weeks and also on surviving your week at work. See you made it, you didn't need an Ol' Stinky Stick to make things better!! That's great. I smoked for 11 years and I've had a HELL of a time quitting!!! Yet, I've seen people on here who smoked 2-3 packs a day for 40 years have an easier time than me (or at least appear to) so no, I don't think it matters. I think what makes the difference is your attitude towards the quit (are you quitting because you have to or because you really want to), whether or not you choose to dwell on smoking, romanticize it in your mind and think about it longingly everyday, and if you see smoking as an option later down the line or not. So, I think it's all about choice. I do not think that you can have an EASY time of it, but I DO think that we can CHOOSE to have a harder time by dwelling on smoking all the time and having a negative attitude towards quitting. I personally chose to have a harder time by thinking about smoking all the time, re-introducing nicotine into my body by smoking "just one" and having a negative attitude towards my quit in the beginning. I know that I could have saved myself a lot of heartache of I'd figured all that out sooner... but I guess we all figure it out at our own paces. Crave the Quit! You are correct. It is resolve and determination that make the difference. we're nicotine addicts....but some of us are more "psychologically" addicted than others. (me for one) The actual 'physical need' for nicotine soon passes....but the "reasons" you needed it are tougher. Many people use it to cover other issues. and in that respect the longer you use it, the tougher it probably is to let go of it. Katy
